Bionic Poster
1. Djokovic - He looked in imperious form in 2023. But he had some physical issues in AO and RG. He has added more weight to add more pace to his shots. There are trade offs.
2024 he can win 3 slams in best case and probably 0 slam in worst case. I think he only will care about slams , OG. Since OG is at RG, he will not be the top favorite but maybe 37 is the year he will win OG.
2. Alcaraz - He improved on 2022 season, winning more ranking pts and Wimbledon where he beat Rune Medvedev and Djokovic in a row. He has played 3/3 SF this year. Next year he would make at least 2 slam finals, and maybe all 4 SF. But he has chance to win 2 slams and in worst case, even he can go slamless. He will probably win 2 masters as well if he is very strong on clay.
3. Medvedev - He had a slight comeback but was overshadowed by Djokovic until the year end where Sinner had his number. He has losing H2H vs Djokovic Sinner and Alcaraz this year. So He probably won't make a slam final. At best he can try to reach AO finals if others are injured. But he can pick off any masters title he wants.
4. Sinner - He improved on 2022 season as well. He will definitely win masters titles next year, he possibly plays in 1 or 2 slam finals next year. Best result 1 slam. Worst 0 slams and 0 finals.
5. Nadal - He has confidence to come back in Brisbane, as early as January first week. That shows he is at least physically semi ready. In his worst season of 2015, he reached slam QF 2 times. I think he can get in very deep despite physical issues. And OG is possible as well. Best result RG + OG. Worst result, slam QFs.
6. Rublev - He had a good year but showed very little sign that he figured anyone out. Next year Alcaraz and Sinner will be even stronger. I don't see him making a slam final. But he can finally make semis if draws open up. Best result a slam semi final, worst result, 0 masters, 0 slam semis.
7. Rune - He has shown some promise in 2023 season but not enough to warranty a great future. What he will need in 2023 is work on his game and add more physicality. His game is good like Sinner 2022 but not enough to make slam finals yet. He might be in the running with Rublev for same results. Best result will be a few slam semis, worst 0 masters 0 slam semis.
8. Zverev - This guy is unpredictable as hell. He was looking very good in 2021, but in 2022 before RG he had very bad results. I think he is an opportunist who will strike when the competition gets weak. So if there are any injuries to especially Djokovic or Alcaraz, he has a chance to make slam finals or even win a big one. But if that doesn't happen, he is not making even a final. He has 1 slam final which was during covid. His floor is super low and ceiling is also imaginary but giving benefit of the doubt. High a freak slam, low no slam semis. No masters.
9. Tsitsipas - He has regressed quite a bit. He fired coach, he is always making excuses. I think his ranking is a sham, with most points coming from first couple of months. But he has the power to at least get back to where his game was in 2022. He didn't make a slam final then and he won't next year as well. We will see in few weeks. But he will probably play better than his ranking (out of top 10 soon) because his FH and serve are amazing. Best result slam semis and a masters title, worst, no title no slam semis.
10. Hurkacz - He had a great 2023 year end but it was partly due to injuries sustained by top players. I think he will play in few slam quarters but won't make any slam semis. Best result a masters final. Worst no big finals in masters.
11. Fritz - He is still in top 10 which is partly due to his high seeding and being injury free. But he won 3 titles this year. Next year he will probably not win even a single one. We will see how things go with him. I see no best case scenario. Worst case he drops out of top 15 and loses early to not win any title.
Overall the slam hopefuls look to be Djokovic, Alcaraz, Sinner and Nadal. I would be mildly shocked if Medvedev wins a big one.
Slam finalist hopefuls look to be Djokovic, Alcaraz, Medvedev, Sinner, Nadal. Right now its hard to think anyone else even make a slam final.
