Leather grip + replacement grip?

Anyone ever tried using leather grip as the base grip and adding a replacement grip over it? To top it off, add an overgrip to it?
The leather grip usually is not too thick as replacement grip so I thought it might work if your goal to:
1. Add weight to the handle
AND/OR
2. Increase grip size

I can't seem to find anyone trying this but would like to hear thoughts on this.

You'd probably barely be able to feel the bevels, if at all. It'd definitely add a decent chunk of weight.

Honestly, the best way to increase grip size is mold a new base grip. You can use a heat shrink sleeve. They do the job of increasing weight and increasing grip size, but the same issue as above arises, where you have less defined bevels. Most players just opt to use several layers of overgrips (usually 2, but I just met someone who uses 5).

Yeah that a great strategy too. I was thinking with the leather grip would at the least bulk so you would still feel bevels

As I string in a retail pro shop, I see customer racquets come in all the time that have unusual grip combinations like the one you’ve described. I can’t think of one case - where 2 replacement grips were doubled up on each other (leather or synthetic, or a combination of the two), where the resulting handle was not significantly rounded off (bevels compromised). Therefore, it would not be an advisable strategy to add weight to the handle or to increase grip size...unless the desired result is also to round off the bevels.

The proper way to do this is to use a heat shrink sleeve, as previously mentioned.

Google Siz-Up on the forums. +1 to +4 increase in grip sizes. Add lead tape as needed. Bevels are retained.

Thanks you. I am a fountain of useful and useless data. Mind is too cluttered with info, most of it useless as I am retired.

TWE and TW Aust has them. They don't seem to have them available in the US. I think you could lobby TW to special order. Lorow does not even seem to have a dealer rep in the USA.
