Leg drag into a Pinpoint stance

I know this may have been talked about before but bare with me as I have a general question about a pinpoint serve. I am a 4.0 to 4.5 level player who uses a platform stance. Recently, for fun, I tried to copy some of the pro's who use a pinpoint stance on thier serve. Alot of the pros seem to to start off in a platform stance but then drag their back leg forward into a pinpoint stance as they toss and hit the ball. Safin and Davenport for ex. Actually I notice that quite a few pros do this except for maybe Roddick who seems to generally start off in a pinpoint stance and does not drag the back leg forward into the pinpoint stance. I find I can do this technique but it seems to have a lack of control especially on a second serve!

1) What are the advantages of the pinpoint stance compared to the platform stance?

2) Does dragging the back leg forward into a pinpoint stance compared to just starting off in a pinpoint stance or simply just using a platform stance help generate more power as brings your body into the serve? It seems alot harder to land on the front leg.

3) Can anyone explain the mechanics of how to do this stance and serve?

Sorry for the overload of questions.

Thanks

Marius Hancu-How do I find your links?

Marius

How can I find those sticky links that you gave me? I did a seach for Serve Power and Placment and I can't find anything? Let me know!

Thanks

go to the listing of threads in the Tips forum
the Sticky is the first thread up there
(it "sticks" to that position)

your search
http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/search.php
was probably limited to
Search Titles Only
you should have tried
Search Message Body
and then the Sticky would have appeared in the search results

Search Power and Placement is
the title of a posting in the Sticky thread, not the title of any thread, thus you must search in the body

Thanks Marius I found it.

Thanks Marius I found it and thanks for the advice on the search. Your right, I only searched for titles.

Thanks
