Legg Mason

Topaz

Legend
Anyone else headed to Legg Mason in DC next week? I've got tickets to all the sessions, and will do my best to take some good pictures to post.

my friend and I are going sunday, always a good day to see some names on the practice court, and then tuesday. i dont like going late in the tournament and i dont like action on the center court for that matter.

I might be going, depends whether I can get off work or not.

I haven't gotten tickets yet, I figure that for one of the first couple of days (first round, second round) I'll be able to just buy them the day before.

Totally agreed with ezdude on where to go. Last time I went, I went on days 2 and 3, and spent most of the time NOT on center court.

Hey guys, i was planing on driving up to see a match on one of the earlier days as well. I just started a new thread in reference to this, and then did a search. What i am wondering is how does it work to roam around, do you still buy a ticket to a session or is their a ticket that lets you walk around all day. The site only seems to refer to tickets on the main court.

Well, they check tickets on entry to the grounds, not on entry to center court. You buy a ticket for a session, and that lets you get into center court and into all of the outside ones as well.

Or at least that's what it's like for the early rounds. I figure it's the same way for the later rounds too, just that less goes on outside the main courst.

The ushers are not strict on Stadium seating, but plan to move your *** if the seat holder shows up. ;)

I'm blogging for Tennis-X, so I'm there all week. Check it out, and toss me your questions. I've been going to the Mason for about 6 years, and I play at Rock Creek during the week, so I know a couple things.

Someone take pictures of Jan-Mike and Justin for me please (if they play each other in the first round, I will scream).

And all of you, wear your sunscreen or I will hunt you down and subject you to tickle punishment!!!!!!

Fee, I'm uploading Jan-Michael pics as I type this! (I also got Hewitt and Paradorn practicing, will put all pics in a separate thread) Unfortunately, I had to leave after his first set, which he won 7-5, so I don't know his final score.

Is Gimelstob in the main draw? He wasn't listed in qualifying.

And OMG! It was bloody hot out there today. I don't know how these players do it! Easily over 100 degrees on the court, without a doubt.

And, yes...you buy one session ticket that does have a reserved seat for center court, but you can roam freely. If you choose to sit someplace other than your reserved seat, you are fine unless the ticket holder shows up. Then 'ya gotta move!

Everyone was sitting under the shade today, and we were still sweating to death!

Yes, Justin is in the main draw, he flew there today some time. He drew a qualifier in the first round, it better not be JMG.

so i should be able to walk up and buy tix if i go tomorrow right? I assume qualifier matches cant be that busy. I just hope they are enjoyable, i guess i figure they are way above my head so it should be enjoyable.

Friends with both. Fan of both. Webmaster. Sometime travel agent... And occassional mother hen/nag type, but then they start rolling their eyes at me and it's not pretty, lol.

Hey Fee,

Just got back from the day and am sorry to say that Jan-Mike lost. He saved three match points but then blew a double in the second. I gotta go shower and chill but will write up the day's activities on the X-Blog. Otherwise great day. :(

Im gonna go one monday and tuesday. I might possibly go on some other days, but thats all i have tickets for right now

Thanks Lynn. I was watching the scoreboard, that last game must have been brutal. Read your blog from yesterday as well. I am quite optimistic about JMG's progress, that's the first time he's played 3 matches in a row since last October. 3 weeks ago we didn't even know if he'd be able to play one full match much less 3, so this was a good weekend in some ways, despite the end result.

I was at the match with JMG as well. He played well but didnt take advantage of the soft second serve steppini had. I think i was sitting next to JMG's coach or father, cause there was a bit of dialogue between him and JMG at one point. I was surprised at how few rallies went for more then 4 or 5 strokes total.

anyhow, i will be there wed, hopefully roddick wont back out.

Dialogue??? But, but...I thought that wasn't allowed!

well....it wasnt really coaching, mostly comments said back and forth under their breath, but loud enough for each other and those of us around to hear.

I was debating if it was his coach or father, so i looked it up on atptennis, and lo and behold, his father is his coach.

safin spotting

I saw Safin practicing late in the afternoon against Nicolas Mahut, noteworthy observations
-Safin looked annoyed and irritable
-Broke a racket
-Has a new coach or interim coach who could barely hit the ball straight
-Security forced us out because they wanted to close the venue
