The sky is the limit for Fonseca and Mensik. It’s phenomenal how impressive Mensik is mentally. It’s great that we are now past the Kyrgios clown era.

Guys like Kyrgios were a very valuable object lesson for the successive generation of young guys like Sinner, Alcaraz, Mensik, Fonseca who were able to see his histrionics from the outside looking in and see how easy it would be to throw away your career by making the wrong moves.

These players are 22 to 23 year old and have never even sniffed the top 20 in the world. I think the chance of them becoming top players and contenders for major titles is very slim. Apart from Nakashima who is a local kid, I haven’t seen any of these players play because they have not been a presence in the late stages of major tournaments.

From your list, the players that are intriguing to me are:

Arthur Fils, 19 yo
Jiri Lehecka, 22 yo
Hamad Medjedovic, 20 yo
Luca Van Assche, 19 yo
Joao Fonseca, 17 yo
Jakub Mensik, 18 yo

These guys are either very young, have some good wins on the ATP pro tour or showed promise in the NextGen tournament. I would add Brandon Nakashima to the list as he won the NextGen title, but he has been very prone to injury. Meanwhile Alcaraz, Rune and Sinner have established themselves as top 10 players while being of the same age as many of these players.

Fonseca and Mensik. Rest of them are kinda meh. For sure they can be top 10 or even top 5 but if we’re talking pure slam winning potential, world no.1 stuff then id say Fonseca and Mensik.

I still hold out hopes for Nakashima, the talent is there tbh.

EDIT: I might hold out for Marozsan too. Very nice technique and strategy and has beaten quite a few of the young top guys like Alcaraz Rune and Ruud.

This is so true. Though one thing that I regret we may never see is that how these fine youngsters humilate furious Nick on the court.

There're bout half dozen absolutely awesome ITF juniors, some with ATP points already, that the world knows little about. The thing is they don't get fast-tracked, hyped or sponsored/represented in such ways as some others we know about. There's an amazing Dutch, a Norweigian, a Spanish kid for example but there's also the apparent unwillingness to propel this talent and skill as it comes down to choices made by few powerful bodies rather than to decisions given by more natural chances

I'm genuinely excited about many of these players.
However, judging potential future greatness has proven a very difficult exercise.

The main attribute that separate those who become top-tier and those falling just short, is IMO the same as in any other sport.
Technical abilities, physical explosiveness, and all these factors that I can be easily dazzled by in young players, ultimately always play second fiddle to the attribute/acquired skill
of making good decisions on and off the court. IMO this holds true for any sport, and is so difficult to predict when it comes to youngsters.

That being said, the future does look bright if a few of these players can further develop the tendencies they're showcasing at the moment.

Egg is only, what, 37. He should be able to regularly beat these mugs for years with the occasional Nardi-ism at a Bo3 when his focus and motivation drop.
