Too often here we discuss players here but not so much their coaches. Ljubicic, Moya and Agassi need no introduction, but there are others who aren’t as famous but doing great things with their player.

Let’s talk about them -

* Who are some of the notable coaches on tour right now?
* What is their background, philosophy and what do they bring to the player’s game?
* What makes them suited to be coaches - especially the former pros?
* Who would make a great coach-player combo?
* Schools of thought and training methods.
* Why are some former coaches not around?

Side note, does anybody know what happened to Larry Stefanki? He had a great run with Gonzo, a so-so association with Roddick and then seems to have disappeared from the scene.

Btw, the more I think about it, the more Ljubicic seems like the Architect for Roger’s rennaissance.

He is not getting enough credit for it, but I doubt Roger could’ve done it without Ljube’s help. The guy seems to possess a great eye for the game as well as tactical genius.

Now that players are being coached by people they actually played against you are getting some interesting back stories. Carlos Moya was actually the first top 10 player to be beaten by Fed, back in 1998. And Ljubicic had fairly well documented clashes with Nadal.

I think the fact that Ivan already knew Fed very well is significant - must have helped with the mental side.

Tomic could coach kyrgios

Haha. Now that would be a great conversation between a frustrated player and their coaching box. Would pay to watch them interact.

Wouldn't rule out Kyrgios coming to blows with Tomic right in the middle of a match.

Hewitt could make a great coach for Kyrgios if the former is interested and Kyrgios willing to put in the work.

Hewitt's mental strength rubbing off on Nick can only do wonders to his results.
