1. I missed it.

2. I didn't know there IS a National Pickleball Day

3. My story: After teaching, coaching and playing tennis for 29 years -- and thinking all those pickleball people were CRAZY, who were chomping at the bit for the high school team I coached to end practice -- I had my first pickleball lesson. The teacher was my former tennis doubles partner who had just *disappeared* from the tennis scene about 2015....

I came home from that lesson and told my wife, "I'm done with tennis."

She didn't believe me, but I haven't played tennis for two and one-half years. We just built a court on our property this past summer and our three grandsons are addicted.

Pickleball is more fun; points move faster -- especially in-between the points; pickleball players are more honest about line calls (They just ARE.). Yes, the scoring is weird, but you get used to it quickly.

Oh! And the DUPR is much more accurate -- and dynamic -- than the USTA's silly rating system.

Does anyone like playing pickleball with a low pressure kids tennis ball, so you have a higher bounce?
Oh, by the way, how about having a National Corn Dog Day?? I have trouble trying to eat a pickleball.

You're trying to make pickleball like tennis. They are different sports.

Try it if you wish ... but that's' not pickleball.

I do see single PB is played a lot more like tennis, especially on the women side of the PPA tour. About 40% of the shot is from the baseline. As the paddle technology is getting better and more powerful, Gearbox pro & Joola Perseus 3S, Joola MOD TA-15, etc... you will see a lot more hitting from the baseline from the current 40% to about 80%. I also see the same thing from the men side going forward, IMHO.

Yeah. Singles in womens pickleball is mostly boring "tennis on a pickleball court." But -- starting with (#1) ALW -- seven of the Top Ten women come to the NVZ almost every point. Even Lacy and Kate, who are not at all tall, attack the net in Singles.

That's NOT accurate. Have you watched Brooke Buckner? She only gets to the NVZ about 60% of the time, NOT every single point. Brooke won three gold medal in single in 2024, including one in Bristol, TN.

When will this MADNESS stop? I thought a pickleball was something to eat along with a hotdog, so naturally
I took a big bite, and broke off my front teeth! I threw the damn ball over the fence, and it hit a cop who was on
his two hour donut break, so he gave me a $1,000 fine for littering his beautiful neighborhood. When I complained
to the judge, somehow I got into a fight with pickleball supporters, and was sentenced as a terrorist to twenty five
years in solidarity confinement. While trying to survive in my dungeon, I was subjected to such constant damn noise
coming from the exercise yard pickleball court, that I went totally insane. Can anyone out there in the tennis world help?

It is too accurate. You pointed to one of the three women who do not attack regularly. (I posted 7 of the Top Ten.)

Brooke, Salome and Parris are the three who do not come in most of the time. Thank you for proving my point.

<Edit> Lea is a mystery to me. Some matches she's all attack (when I think she wins more). Some matches she plays "baseline tennis" (which she's not as good at on the pickleball court). </Edit>
