I had thought it might be thinner too. I took lots of measurements, including before and after melting onto the grip, which had little impact.

The Syntec Team, from what I've gathered, is .05mm thinner and a few grams lighter. Feel is personal and subjective, but one poster toward the end of the first of these threads commented that the Team version feels less like plastic and has more comfort. Personally, I think a 'broken in' Skin Feel is hard to beat (as far as synthetics go), and I doubt this new Syntec Team is drastically different. I'll probably use this grip moving forward if I'm not using leather.

I don’t have any specs however I love how grippy replacement grips are compared to over grips. Especially white Babolat syntec pros, those are awesome. Personally the only over grips I tried I liked are the tourna overgrips and Wilson pro overgrips.

I prefer my Black Babolat leathers for feel and thickness, but my Angell leathers are the perfect weight for my TC95s at 20g. Was thinking the Tecnifibre leather would be my best compromise. Yes, its confirmed by TW to be discontinued, at least in the US. Babolat Syntec Team is the new alternative. Although its lighter and thinner (and overall different) from what I've read.

Yep. It was a bit tricky. I had to cut off a rectangular strip with a jack knife. It really sticks to the racket. I took various measurements to verify the measurement. Ill send a photo over of the measurement if still have the heat shrink.

The difference between 2 consecutive grip sizes is 1/8 inch, i.e. ~0.32mm, isn't it?

I measured some of my old racquets to verify and adding a standard overgrip (0.6mm) you can increase one size grip but it's not the same feel cause the overgrip is soft whereas with a racquet 1 size bigger without overgrip the solid handle material is bigger so 1 size up will always feel bigger, more solid with more feel.

In the same way some replacement grips decrease one size such as Tourna Pro Thin but it won't never be the same feel as the other racquet one size lower.

I saw some products such as Lorow siz-up to build a bigger grip without adding as much weight as a heat shrink and easier to install. Don't know, if it still exists.

I just received my Amazon order, and bought some Wilson Pro Perforated "Feel" Overgrips (12x package) instead of my normal Wilson Pro 'Comfort'. These have some little wholes one surface. Anyone can tell in how they feel different? 'Feel' could mean they are thinner ?

I just installed a Kimony Original leather, it didn't need to be trimmed for length, so untrimmed and installed it weighs 25 grams without the double sided tape. It came up a tiny bit short on a Yonex 4-1/2 handle.

How much do the original synthetic grips (on racquets that come with synthetic grips) weigh?

For my Zebra Head Radical 630 w/CAPS grommets.

So it looks like in this case the Kimony weights the same as the original synthetic, but you still need to add an overgrip which adds about 4g.

The Kimony Techni is the first leather grip I've installed which did none of what I see are the 3 main issues with installing a leather grip: 1) riding up and exposing the butt cap 2) creasing on the turn from flat to diagonal wrap and 3) leaving a bulge on one side of the grip due to the overlap. The tacks which are included are a big plus as they let me pull it so tight I almost got a cramp by the third racket. I'm very pleased with the grip and I've tried the TW ones, Head, Wilson, and Prince leather replacement grips.

This morning I got two Kimony Original Leather grips, not the Techni ones.

These are 1.5mm in thickness, 25mm wide and 107cm in length according to Stringers' World website.

Of the ones I got, one weighs 24 grams and the other weighs 23 grams. Both the tan version. The weight is without the double sided tape attached. The packaging does include that though, + two tiny nails and finishing tape.

This depends on the material
- synthetic replacement grips usually have a less dense foam layer that compacts the most. thicker ones usually have more foam.
- overgrips are usually made out of some polyurethane similar to the outer layer of a replacement grip and compacts less.

2.1mm replacement grip more foam compacts more
1.5 + 0.6 more PU compacts less

I would suggest going slightly thinner (0.1- 0.2mm) to get a similar size feel during play.

overlap do add 0.6mm but it's not the whole handle. it's a different kind of a feel.

I've been experimenting with some leather grips the past month and read through the leather grip thread alot, here is my contribution, my measurements and feelings on some of which I tried.
The thickness measured is based on a comparison with the original replacement grip I have which is 1.5mm, all weights are trimmed for a Yonex L3 grip (ezone 98 2020) and are accurate within 1-2g range (kitchen scale, not jeweler). The feeling I'm describing using the grips is with an overgrip on top of it (wilson pro overgrip in my case)

Tecnifibre ATP Leather
Weight (trimmed): 23g
Thickness: 1.5mm
Felt really connected to the racket, hard raw feeling, great feedback (probably harder on the hands and arm)
As you can see in the picture the overgrip I'm using (Wilson pro overgrip) seems to be soaking some of the material for some reason but that doesn't seem to be an issue

Dunlop Leather Pro
Weight (trimmed): 23g
Thickness: 1.5mm
More comfortable than the Tecnifibre, less feedback, more of a plush feel I guess

Oehms Pro Leather Grip Tan
Weight (trimmed): 25g
Thickness: 1.5mm
Felt more connected to the racket than the Dunlop, less than the Tecnifibre but was too heavy and felt a bit cheap

Grip Wilson Premium Leather Natural
Weight (trimmed): 24g
Thickness: 1.6mm
Great feeling, felt really connected to the racket, sadly it's too thick for me


I've settled on using the Tecnifibre leather grip for now as I'm feeling most connected to the racket using it, I've added lead tape to keep the same balance (3g at 9 and 3g at 3, 4x6"(~15,24cm) strips).

I also recommend not using the provided finishing tape for the leather grips as they are not long enough and don't stick that well. I've used the Gamma finishing tape.

About 23-24g. In the thread it's listed from 22 to 24, but IME it's been more than 23 in the last few years.
