I used some adidas Barricade Team shoes last year that were pretty good. Later last year I got a couple sets of Nike Air Trainer 1 shoes (friend with a Nike hook-up) that I started wearing to the courts some times, but they just didn't cut it for me. Over the winter I went to the Asics GR3, but the more I play in them, the more I dislike the stiffness of the midsole and the deadness of their feeling (not sure if that makes sense).
Today my wife brought home a new pair of ALINE insoles that I threw in a set of my Air Trainers and walked to the neighborhood courts to hit against the backboard for a while. What a change - I really felt like I had better balance and weight transfer - and while I still didn't like the shoes, it crystalized what I want to change about my GR3s: I want a shoe that is light and flexible and low to the ground, it needs to have some good cushioning and it has to work with a narrow, low-volume foot. Does anyone have suggestions?
Before I bought the GR3 I tried the Babolat Propulse 3 out, but my feet were swimming in them. Same feedback for K-Swiss shoes. I also would like to stay away from racket-manufacturer brand shoes (I know they make good ones, but I may have a conflict coming with that and would prefer to look elsewhere so that it is a non-issue). I'm also not particularly hard on outsoles, but can tear up a sole not intended for court use quickly (as evidenced on my Air Trainers)...
Anyone have help or suggestions?
