Lilli Tagger wins the French Open Girls' Singles without dropping a set

Does anyone know anything about her? She's from Austria. Coached by Schiavone. And sounds like she has a superb one handed backhand. Does anyone have any more insight into her game and potential? Thanks!

Welcome to her thread! Found quite a bit in German and Italian, not much in English. Will post still a couple of updates, she is 17 now. Finally a newcomer with a one-hander!

Thiem never played a role in her decision to switch at twelve.

Despite the attempts by most coaches the 1HB will not go away. I wish this girl a smooth transition to the pros and a long and successful career on the WTA Tour.

Great news! Hope her one handed backhand works better than the one of Diane Parry, who mainly uses it to slice the ball (like Fernando Gonzales used to do)

From what I have seen she prefers to drive, but I have seen her recently almost exclusively on clay. Francesca Schiavone has been her main coach for a couple of years now and was a wily clay courter, winning of course the RG fifteen years ago - with a one-handed backhand. Interesting bit from Wikipedia:

Schiavone announced her retirement from the sport at the 2018 US Open, and shared aspirations of winning a major as a coach.

Some time ago I wrote that a one-hander seems to work best on a (very) tall and strong player. With 185cm Lilli certainly has the height, but needs still to grow into her frame like most juniors. A great slice and quick feet are needed to protect that stroke and to allow the one-hander to attack the right balls. Especially on clay the spin can be used to create very sharp angles.

She has only a very limited experience on grass and is still lithe, don't expect much for this season.

She's into the final of her very first WTA main draw by beating Golubic in the battle of the one-handed backhands in Jiujiang. Both her backhand and forehand are weapons, and she has a great attitude/demeanor on the court, in this case helping her come back from down 2-5 and *4-5 0-40 in the third set.
