Hadn't thought of that - you might be right - it's not a generic trophy - it does look like the real thing and the USTA probably protects it. How much they can get for that being on the heel - who knows? Having Nike creating exclusives and the buzz helps them too - think of the sneakerheads who buy ground passes just to get to the Nike booth.

Nike probably wanted their cut and decided to allocate it to the major online tennis shops, loca shops, and their site.the USTA caught wind of it and wasn't having it probably saying "yo, you're using our trophy image and that's a copyright infringement, y'all better take that down or pay us! It is New York, mob tactics all of this is just a wild guess

These are not available at the Nike booth at Billie Jean King Tennis Center. The Nike booth said they did not get them and when I asked why they were pulled from the store they suggested I call the Nike hotline for information. *shrugs*

As of today, they were selling the same three models that are on TW site - Lava/Black, Volt/Black & White/Black. I'm hoping when I go tomorrow, they'll have something new for the "official" start date of the open.

Yup, that was the pic. I looked at it again, and it looked like the pic was taken on Tuesday. Nike requested retailers to send back the shoes on Thursday/Friday, so it's possible they had them and then returned them. But as of this morning, they were not selling at the open.

Someone mentioned earlier that it's possible Nike didn't license the US Open trophy that is on the shoes so they had to pull it from stores. I kinda feel that may be a legitimate reason why they're no longer available.

I thought the trophy was printed on. But either way, you're right. That and the RF and 'unique' colors are not worth an extra $65.

The shortage makes sense. In the manufacturing world 'just in time' is the norm; companies don't want to produce good smonths in advance and pay to store them. Any slip-up in the process - getting materials, machine issues, worker strife - can foul things up.

I think it's all the same shoe. Different lighting, different cameras, day and night, can slightly change the color we see.

Yes. Lava became peach because of the bad lighting at the Steal The Show event before the tournament.

I've heard they were not coming back at all, and my guy is reluctant to tell me why. Must be a big issue with a lot of money at stake, wouldn't be surprised if a lawsuit could be brought up from certain parties over these shoes

I wonder if it's not that the retailers were supposed to wait to sell it. Nike has put the trophy on previous years' shoes and it's strange they 'forget' to renew the agreement or think they could blow off the USTA. But I doubt we will ever find out the truth. The silly drama in the tennis world - a lot like cliques at high school.

Thanks for sharing information. it seems like that trophy logo caused legal issue. but, why 2008-2010 wasn't have same issue when nike released trophied vapors at Open? because the quantity was limited? and, is there no problem with Roger's one that has still trophy logo?
Oh well...I suppose that maybe there was second QS release plan for vapor LG night session, but if the legal problem exists, it can't be happen anymore... regardless I still don't like Fed's Night session hello kitty kits, and there's still no shoes matching with it, I can save my money because I am unable to complete night session collecion... blahblah

I don't think we'll see these shoes back at retailers. Maybe if Fed wins the tournament, we'll see a QS with the trophy on it but I personally don't think we'll see this model in stores.
