I'm starting to think that Djokovic will be the first player in history to win every single big event in his career. He needs the French Open, Monte Carlo Masters, Shanghai Masters, Cincinnati Masters and an Olympic Gold medal in singles to complete the ATP Tour Golden Slam

He'll definitely get the French Open. Also, Shanghai this year and the Olympics next year. Monte Carlo may stop being a Masters soon.

well the masters have changed so for instance, nadal federer and agassi never won shanghai - they won madrid indoor hardcourt when it was in the place in the calendar shanghai is now... shame novak never won madrid too on hardcourt

i was annoyed he lost in 3 cinci finals, would be nice to have the 4 north american masters. Surely with Nadal going for 8 Monte Carlo's in a row, next year Novak can win that, then hopefully the french, hopefully shanghai this year

Djokovic has a great chance to win every title. I'm sure he'll take a break now and then participate in Shanghai where he has a great chance of winning.

if nothing changes, he'll be the heavy favorite at the olympics next year. If I were him I'd do everything to collect all titles, he doesn't know how long he can maintain that high level

Good call, really shows how amazing Andre was:)

Yeah at this level he has to try for everything, if he can win shanghai this year then next year the main ones are the olympics - because it's only every 4 years, the french open, monte carlo and cinci... really that's everything..

Sure thing.

Glad to see only Federer has won Cincinnati, the REAL SLAM :)

Neither Federer nor Nadal have won Shanghai. Nadal was a finalist in 2009 (1.to Davydenko) and Federer was a finalist in 2010 (1. to Murray).

I was too lazy to write Madrid/Shanghai instead. We all know it's the 8th Masters of the year. Same with Hamburg/Madrid being the 5th.

See what you mean. Both Fed and Rafa have indeed won the 8th Masters ie. the former Madrid Indoors.:)

French Open - won

Miami - final

According to this forum, Tennis Masters Cup, Miami, Cincinnati, and Paris are the true slams. The rest could be won by a 3.5 player.

Olympics next yr is ages away right now. One should not forget that eight months back, people were gunning for Rafa to complete the calendar slam (some were even talking of him creating a record and taking six slams in a row!). So we don't know if Djokovic will be the fav. to win next yr or not. Does not mean I'm doubting his abilities or something (only a fool would do that), just that, it is still a long way to go before Olympics.

But they've won Madrid indoor which has the same status (1st fall master). Djoko has never won the 1st fall master (anywhere).
