100% of 12-12+ matches within the last 9 years of Wimbledon have involved at least one of just three players: Gilles Muller, Santiago Giraldo, or John Isner...

Thanks for the stats. Makes you wonder if adding a breaker at 12-12 is really necessary if this happens so rarely ...

That's what I was wondering too given that the percentage is so insignificant compared to rest of the stats. But it does have the potential to mess up the tournament once in a while.

Apparently the grass at Wimbledon was slowed down because of a couple of finals between Pete and Goran which then allowed Nadal, who's primarily a clay courter, win a few Wimbledon the following decade.

Did that kill tennis or revived it?

Also, is it possible to make the clay faster so that those who aren't comfortable on a super slow surface like clay to have an equal chance in the future?

Surface changes are not changes to the FKING RULES. You can have epic 5-setters on any surface. The 5th set TB killed any chance of having 08W final-type matches at the US Open. Having Wimbledon falling to this rule is even worse because of the history and tradition around it.

There are few things that the stats don’t show you :

Players would have played differently if they knew a TB was coming at 12-12

Players who played long matches screwed schedules / opponents for future rounds

Players who played long matches wore out the court

I think they should have made the tiebreaker at 6-6 just like USO.

It is a surprise AO has not made any change but it was more needed at Wimb where it is easy to get to 5th set in 2.5 hours

It is clear as day why this change has been made exactly after the Anderson - Isner SF, and it has nothing to do with "fairness" or "concerns about the players".

Wimbledon organisers should be ashamed that they are making changes that hurt the game.

8-)
