Other players that ended up with multiple grand slam titles and who Jiri Novak beat at some point, included Becker, Murray, Hewitt, Safin, Kafelnikov, Rafter and Bruguera.

I remember him being a nuisance for Henman, beating him in the Davis Cup in 2000 and the Olympics and Basel in 2004.

He was one of the calmest players that I've seen on the court, rarely looking flustered or getting angry. During the 2004 Basel final when he beat Nalbandian in 5 sets (he loved playing in Switzerland), the contrast between his demeanour and that of Nalbandian (who deliberately provoked the umpire into giving him a warning for slow play after being previously warned about that, mishit a ball on purpose and smashed two rackets), was pretty funny.

He had very flat and solid groundstrokes from both wings.

31 Top 10 wins, all coming with him outside Top 10 himself and most outside Top 20. Legend.

But to add to the topic Fed will have these niche records locked up beating Andre, Pete, Rafa, Novak, Thiem, Tsit, Zverev, Shap.

Of course Connors beating Rosewall and Stich is way up there.

I remember Hrbaty's 4 consecutive 5 set matches at the Australian Open in 2006, when he wore that pink and blue shirt with 'ventilation holes'. He beat Marach (from 2 sets to love down), Dick Norman (10-8 in the final set) and Andreev, and then led Davydenko by 2 sets to love in the next round before eventually losing. Apparently the match against Dick Norman was a real thriller and entertaining match, but most people around the court had their backs turned to the action and were watching big name players like Hewitt and Henin practicing (par for the course though).

He had an excellent Davis Cup record, especially at home where he was very difficult to beat. He enjoyed victories over Magnus Norman, Enqvist, Kuerten (in straight sets on clay in Rio de Janeiro), Safin (in straight sets), Rios (from 2 sets to love down), Roddick (who had won 37 out of his last 39 matches), Haas, Coria, Ancic and Ljubicic (his only defeat in 12 singles / doubles matches in the competition that year). Speaking of Rios, he also upset him in the quarter-finals at RG in 1999, and beat him every time they played each other. He was a terrible match-up for Rios, punishing his 2nd serve, dictating baseline rallies and forcing Rios on the run and out of position.

Having a winning h2h against both Federer and Nadal is definitely something to be proud of !

Nalbandian mentioned his victory against Hrbaty in Slovakia as his greatest Davis Cup victory, and he beat Safin, Hewitt and Davydenko (x2) away in the competition.

That's pretty amazing. A combined 10-8 record against those guys.

He was also 7-7 vs. Safin.

How did this guy never make the top 10?
His 9-4 against Kafelnikov is also not too shabby. Wonder whom he had all the losses to because his H2H against the big guns is incredibly good. Similar to guys like Kyrgios or Becker whose H2H against ATGs is better than there own ranking would suggest (Becker is of course an ATG himself but going by his H2H stats you would think he is a GOAT candidate).

How did Hrbaty get 3 W on Nadal? Very impressive.
Not to take anything on Hrbaty but he always appeared to me as a solid all court player but with no major weapons. Conservative forehand grip.
There are also no clips of this on youtube. What's the breakdown on Hrbaty's game? And how did hw get 3 W on Nadal...and 2 on Fed as well?

This is a good question. A rather one dimensional guy with one or two lethal weapons though (Karlovic/Kyrgios serve) or a hard hitter like Soderling I can see having some wins here and there against ATG or even GOAT candidates. However, I have no recollection at all of Hrbaty being such a player. He seemed to be more a Ferrer type, pretty solid everywhere but without any big weapon.

Yes I'm not surprised there. Nalbandian was the only player to beat Hrbaty in a Davis Cup singles match that year, and had to play incredibly well to do so. When I've mentioned Nalbandian's best Davis Cup victories, I've always included that one. I think Hrbaty's only 'poor' home defeat in the Davis Cup was when Rochus demolished him in 2006. A real fighter and a Davis Cup warrior.

He lead Sampras 4-2 in the 5th set during their 4th round match at 1997 AO, when he was relatively inexperienced at ATP tour level.

His fitness was clearly a strength, and his groundstrokes were flat, compact and very reliable from both ends (often it looked like he could rally cross court for hours on end). He was vulnerable to players that could mix things up in terms of speed, spin, placement, angles etc. so in theory Rios should have been a nightmare match-up for him, but his game was also well suited to exposing Rios's weaknesses and wearing him down. Rusedski was a terrible match-up for him with his serve-volleying and regular slicing giving him no rhythm to work with.

I just remembered that his famous pink and black ventilation hole shirt was actually from the 2005 USO, and not from the 2006 AO when he played in all those 5 setters.
