Head Composite Master 102
I just picked up Head Composite Master 102 sq in. with 18x19 string pattern. I want to CAP this racquet with FXP Prestige Team grommets and I'm pretty sure it would fit. Would anything else fit this racquet?

BTW has the prestige classic 660 actually been capped 'sucessfully', by anyone?

Aggro, I believe only fxp prestige mp can be capped by fxp grommets because the flexpoint line has those holes at 3 and 9 clock so the CAP is a little thinner around that area.

They will work... however, they will cover a bit of the 'flexpoint' paint.

Capping for Head Graphite Pro
Thanks for this thread BTW. I understand what is takes to install the capping system. But what about removing an older, completely destroyed grommet set. Reason why I ask is I have the opportunity to purchase an old Head Graphite Pro (I hope when you meant "Professional," you meant the teal/bluish green head) for less than $5, but it is in desparate need of new grommets (it has an old white system in place but looks completely FUBAR). I read this thread and found that the FXP Prestige midsize grommets fit it. I don't know how to take out the older/destroyed set. If there is a thread for this can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help would be appreciated.
Also, If my local tennis store is out of FXP Prestige Mid grommets, do you think MG Prestige Mid grommets would fit? :???:

HA! It's the same local used store I go to to get most of my racquets. Once in a while they have really good finds and don't even know it. I have a few posts detailing my finds at this same store. If it is still there, I'm gonna grab it and see what else they might have is stock.
As for my question. Is there a thread on how to take out the old grommet set? Is it easy? And will any prestige mid grommet set work as a replacement? I will try and have pics of the before and after if I am able to get this done.

I was able to buy the GP and made a project in replacing the grommets. Here are the before and after pics.

The LM Radical is a PITA to CAP because of those silly ridges in the frame.
It's easiest to CAP with MG Prestige mid+ CAP grommets as opposed to LM Prestige mid+ CAP grommets.
Which CAP grommets are you using?

Here is the first LM Radical I CAPped. It was so frustrating to get the grommets to fit correctly... I finally cut the CAP near the throat and they went in much easier (even at the head). LM radicals I've CAPped, subsequently, have been a bit easier (especially with the MG CAP grommets).
Ask Aggro if he knows any tips/tricks... he replaced the stock grommets on a number of LM Radical Tours I sold him, last year.

Which CAP grommets did you use? The MG Prestige CAPs?
I'm using the MG prestige MP grommets. Everything went in ok, except for the top, where 1,2H just wont go in. Also, I got the 5T,6,T,AND 7T to go in but the grommet doesn't seem long enough. I'll keep trying and if I can't get in it, I'll cut the grommets just as you suggested. Thanks Bud.
I kind of regret cutting the grommet. After stringing, the grommet was able to fit in, and I didn't do such a good job cutting so the top of the frame doesn't look so good because its not flat and even, and there are spaces between where I cut. Hopefully next time I'll do a better job.

I tried to cap my Head Comp. Master with FXP Prestige Team grommets (102 so in. with 18x19) and.......no luck. I ran into some problems. Even the spec look the same but the head shape is little different. Any suggestion?

no, not easily at least, somebody tried to cap a tecnifibre racket a while back, he said it took a long time and not worth the outcome, if you have a volkl c10 pro you would have a much easier time, but tecnifbre rackets take a lot of tweaking

Where did you cut the grommet?
Did you use LM Prestige or MG Prestige CAP grommets?
Have pics?
Much of performing a clean job retrofitting CAP grommets, on older frames or frames that didn't have stock CAPs, is accomplished by doing it a number of times. You learn something each time. Pretty soon, they'll all look perfect!

Are you sure? That racquet should accept CAP grommets pretty easily.
Do you have a pic of it?
Which part of the frame gave you trouble?
I CAPped a Trisys 270 and it worked perfectly.

No, different drill patterns for the grommets.
Only the Spalding ATP 200 Pro Line/Pro Stock are Prestige clones. They will accept CAP grommets.

holding a head tt radical 98 up to a dunlop mfil 200, they seem to line up....can the dunlop be capped with head grommets?

Im using I-prestige grommets on my MG Radical MP. The grommets fit but it seems the tubing (the part that goes into the hole) is too short. The longer tubes don't reach all the way through. Will this change when i string it up or is there something i can do to fix this?

i had the same problem ,for me the tubing never wen tall the way in, so then i switched to the microgel caps

isnt the mfil 200 a 95 sq inch head
and the m fil 200 plus is 16x 19 so im thinking that the chance of them working will be low

the radical is also 95 if you measure it the same way dunlop, wilson etc do ie. outside of frame = 98 sqin, inside = 95 sqin.

The Microgel CAP grommets should work nicely. However, any of those will work.

I do have one question though that I posted but maybe can get an answer from some of you...
I was looking on the big auction site today and came across an I.Prestige that didn't have a CAP grommet set that went all the way around the frame. I've heard talk that only the XL version came out like that, with basically a bumperguard system for the top of the frame and not one that goes all the way around. Is it safe to assume that the racquet is an XL version and not standard? Were there standard versions without full CAP grommets for this version of the Prestige?

I used the customization worksheet to do this one time. To simulate the addition of the CAP, I added the following:
*4 grams @ 18 inches
*4 grams @ 15.75 inches
*4 grams @ 20.25 inches
The swingweight on my racquet increased by ~12. (343.60 to 355.57)

they fit a lot easier int he czech version of the lm radical, the china versions seem to have smaller holes at the knot tying points

The reason is I knew I wanted to cap my radical and a full heat sleeve weighs .6 ounces,(.5 trimmed). So this is my idea of offsetting the weight in the head. So I am hoping the grommets difference in weight it is give or take .5 ounces.
