List of rackets that can be capped/ capping guide

Yea, but i'm only 16 and most of my transactions have to go through my parents. I've got the cash (personally, i'm not rich, just birthday money savings). I'd love to get another racquet to play with (my dream is a prestige classic 600!!!!), and i've had my eye on three frames (PB10 mid, MG Prestige mid, and the MG rad mp as of late) to mess around with and if I liked them I would switch.

But......i just got another AG100 for my birthday yesterday, and if I were to switch, that's 100 bucks gone. I could always trade, but i'd want to know what i'm getting into first :D

on a side note are you still using your silent partner machine?

Has anyone tried to CAP a Dunlop Aerogel 300 16X18?

Do you think it could work?

Which set of CAP's?

I doubt it, but just want to see...

Yeah i only bought it to try out, then maybe trade for a prince stick, it was pretty good though

It got the job done, and I strung a good number of frames on there. But after moving up, no way i'd go back!

No way, string patterns are completely different, and so is the drill hole pattern. Would be nice though if every racket could come with caps *sigh*

I want to try and cap my Youtek Radical MP's but I have no idea which ones to use and which ones are best. Also does anyone have any idea where i can get them, I'm in the UK. How much weight do they add to the racket? I currently have 5 grams of lead tape under the current grommets which came with the racket and 15 grams in the handle. Also would the caps add stability and a bit of stiffness to the racket as I fell the youtek feels a bit unstable.
Thanks.
If anyone wants to send a link of where I can get the caps then just do it through my profile.

You can get the CAP grommets from W&D Strings, or try emailing uk_skippy through the forum or jazar probably has some. Try posting in the UK racketaholics and tennis bums thread, lots of Brits in there who can help (that's where I found out how to get the grommets I needed)

Adding CAPs to my PT167A has upped the swingweight and increased stability. There was some lead under the bumper that I left on there. Will try and weigh it at some point, it's a pretty heavy frame now.

CAP'd PT167A (which is a pro stock FXP Radical, belonged to Kuerten.)

My buddy and I just capped a Youtek Rad MP; We used the MGPM+ cap and replaced the OEM Hydrosorb grip with the Head leather grip. It's a "relatively" easy install but an awl or similar tool needs to be used to open up 2 of the holes of the frame so that the Cap tie off grommet can fit through--If you don't do this you end up bending the grommet and it can be a pain to get em in (we had that issue initially till the resolution was figured out). Also the bottom 2 ends of the grommet won't come completely through until you actually string the stick up (they get close to being flush but it takes the tension of stringing up the stick to get em to pop through)..

There was a noticeable difference in the way the racquet played. The stick felt like a prestige on steroids (the perfect prestige really). the racquet was way more stable, definitely a weightier shout and the racquet accelerated quicker through the air. The spin characteristics of the frame were increased as well...

IMHO, the capped and leather skinned YT Rad MP, with an XL tournagrip, felt the closest to the prestige classic--buttery smooth--than any of the newer iterations of the prestige. I've owned the Classic, Flexpoint, Microgel, and demoed the YT Prestige last month so I think that I am in a position to make such a comparison... For the record I plan on Capping my YT Rad MPs next time I string up my sticks...

Just my $.02. Hope this helps...

It's noted in the list that the Spalding ATP Tour Pro Stock 200s are CAPpable...however is the ATP Tour Pro Line 200 CAPpable as well ??
The Pro Line were the slightly lighter non-Pro Stock versions , still 18x20 pattern, still midsize 90. Any info appreciated.

In my attempt to install mgpmp caps to lm rad mp, The grommets fail to meet flush at the 12 o'clock position. There is a full .5 cm gap and this just does not look correct. I'm using an awl, following the instructions per the posts, and don't think I'm missing anything. Anyone have a similar problem. As much as I want the conversion, this really looks awful...help pls

Pics!

I know this thread is almost exhausted, but has anyone had this experience with the grommet halves not matching up??

Explain... not following you.

Hi I recently ordered 2 LM Radicals and got TW to cap them with the MG prestige grommets before shipping out.

I noticed that some of the grommet holes/tubes didn't quite extend past the holes in the racket leaving some of the strings to be almost touching the frame. In particular, the 5Ts and 7Ts. Does anyone else have this problem or is it that the grommets weren't fitted in properly?

Also, the gap between the two halves at the top are different in both rackets. One seems to be much further apart.

Help? Thanks.

Sounds like the CAPper didn't really know how to install CAP grommets on a Radical.

Sometimes, you must enlarge the frame holes slightly so the grommet nibs seat properly.

Once you do it 4-5 times, you learn all the small details.

Thanks Bud.

How do you enlarge the frame holes?

Is it safe for the frame to be played with the strings resting on the frame itself or should i redo the whole job?

if you heat it up and get it more flexible you shouldn't have too many problems, i noticed that the caps fit PERFECTLY in the Austrian made LM radicals compared to China ones

Just like it shows in frekles pic..the two halves do not meet flush at the 12 o'clock. Still functional I'm sure..BUT??? Solutions??

There are no solutions... there will be a gap at the top as the grommets are made for a Prestige... not a Radical.

can the youtek radical be capped?

and secondly, can the mg prestige have the mg radical grommets? (just curious bout that second question)

Can I use any Prestige mp grommets on a MG radical mp? The MG are out of stock, so I was thinking LM
