Thiago Seyboth Wild over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 5-7, 7-6, 7-5
Carlos Alcaraz over Albert Ramos-Vinolas 7-6, 4-6, 7-6

both 1st round matchups and really interesting matches.

Its the USO final, and by a good margin. That was a historic moment for tennis history, and even though the match itself was painfully low-quality, the drama, the tension, and the wild momentum swings as each player struggled against their own psychological demons made it a thriller.

Nobody on the planet would ever think that was a great match in quality, suspense or anything else aside from Rafa getting 20. It was a complete trouncing with zero drama. The only mildly interesting thing was when Djokovic broke in the third set, only to go away tamely a few minutes later. One of the biggest duds in slam finals, right up there with Agassi-Schuetler or the 2008 FO final. The only worse final in memory has to be the USO this year - a choking monstrosity of a match.

I know it was an exho, and it technically happened in 2019, but the Nadal - Tsitsipas Abu Dhabi final was pretty sick

I normally make a top 10 every year, but this year... Most of the great ones that I've seen I liked more for the drama than the tennis, and choosing those makes me feel... Impure.

Guess you missed Raonic-Krajinovic in 'Cincy', gotta watch the highlights at lleast. A pretty top quality match without overwhelming choking other than Kraj unable to close out the second set.

Thank you! Will look into it. Liked a few matches from 'Cincy' but I try not to watch Raonic matches if I can help it :-D

No epics this year, as the matches of quality tended not to go the distance.
Truncated year where no match stood out.

If Thiem-Nadal WTF and AO were high quality, but neither matched USO 2018 QF.
USO final went to 5 but was low quality. AO final went to 5 but was a bit weird as well, Djokovic was a bit below par while Thiem played well in patches before collapsing.

I'm going to have to go with Thiem vs Schwartzmann at Roland Garros.
