Rios was only around 5'7" -5'8" and his second serve was never a Liability. Pretty underated server IMO. He could bang it as well (not that thats what makes great serving). His second serve had some nasty lefty slice and would stay very low (partly due to his height I gather)
Ferrer i believe isn't quite 6ft and Tipsarevic as well
Actually, Rios is 5'9".
I've met him, I'm 5'9" too. We were even in height.
I don't know where those smaller numbers came from; maybe they were earlier measurements before his 20s and he hadn't fully developed.
But he's 5'9" now.
right, but ferrers serve sucks.
well maybe not suck, but it's certainly no offensive stroke and he gets broken a lot (but also breaks a lot himself).
The players famous for their serves are all very tall or at least taller than average. Karlovic, Isner, Querrey, and Raonic are all above 6'5". Even guys like Sampras and Roddick were above six foot.
Who, among players below 5'11", do you think has the best serve?
Dolgopolov has a decent serve for his height and build
