Ljubicic - Baghdatis *Spoiler*

Sure looks like Big Daddy's strategy of sleeping with his girlfriend while his coach did the scouting is paying off. :-)

Was sort of hoping for a Nalbandian vs Ljub match - but Nalbandian vs Daddy could be very interesting too.

I haven't seen the match but I was really disappointed in hearing about the result. Ivan started the year well with a win in Chennai. I think Marcos is overrated but he did beat Ivan here last year as well.

watch the match first and then say again he's overrated, he outplayed Ljubicic in 3 of the 5 sets!

Absolutely. Though Ivan is not too bad a player, he looked really deflated and was slicing a hell of a lot and playing a defensive game. Marcos gave him a good run and ultimately it paid off.

jonolau thats right. Ivan was not playing like he did against Johansson or Lopez. He was playing like himself in the first game. Then suddenly he looked very defensive. Good game by Baghdatis. And he's a very popular man here in Australia. Well Done!

Admittedly, Baghdatis played a really great game and has a bit of a wildman streak ... very entertaining and breaks the monotony of the game!

Of the six men left, I give these percentiles for winning it all:

Federer: 42%
Nalbandian: 24%
Kiefer: 13%
Baghdatis: 8%
Davydenko: 7%
Grosjean: 6%

The amazing thing about Baghdatis is that he takes the ball so early that other players can't help but be defensive. On a lot of those points he was dictating play from well inside the baseline, running Ljubicic ragged.

Ljubicic has a 3-11 record in 5 setters. Ouch.

I was watching the 5th in the first bar I ran into that had tv :-) and the waiters and male guests were exactly pointing that out...no mather how he starts (with a 2:0 like in Madrid or 0:2 like here he'll somehow manage to lose it. I can't understand how can he return from 0:2 and then totally lose it in the 5th.
His game in the 5th was dissapointing. He actually defeated himself. He picked that habit from Ancic.
Although I find Baghdatis annoying, he played really good, can't deny that. But still, Ivan heleped him a lot with his poor game in the 5th.
Anyway...can't wait Zagreb Indoors next week. No five set matches plus Ivan at home...couldn't be a better chance for some revenge. :-) And I'll be cheering like those crazy Greeks :-)
