Lleyton Hewitt can win Wimbledon 2010

You can never count this guy out. Remember last year, he had Roddick dead even in the fifth set - Roddick was playing the best of his life and Hewitt was square even. He even had a BP on Roddick but Roddick made the volley of his LIFE to save it and hold. That would have given Hewitt the break in the fifth and he would have won. Hewitt was right there in the mix.

Now Hewitt beats Federer, this is HUGE for his confidence. Now he rolls into Wimbledon with a very good chance to win. This guy knows how to do it, he knows how to pump himself up for these big events. Hewitt knows this could be his last shot. He is desperate, a cornered but very clever animal. I'm telling ya'll I am feeling a Hewitt shock the world coming. Federer is off. Murray and Djokovic are off their games. Nadal is going to be dangerous. Hewitt can do it, will need some luck, but do not DO NOT count out Lleyton Hewitt folks!

Hewitt's chances to win Wimbledon are about as high as Donald Young's to win calendar grand slam next year.

Yeah Lleyton has a chance, just like every person that's entered into the tournament, has a chance. But I don't see him winning unless the top 8 seeds don't show up.

I'm glad Hewitt finally beat Federer after 14 times in a row or whatever. But he needs to pull all 4 aces out of his sleeve to snatch the Wimbledon title one more time. I hope he can do it, I just feel like he deserves it after all the injuries he had to go through and he's still playing

Don't get me wrong, Hewitt is a great player and I enjoy his style of play, but to be honest the guy can't duke it out with the rest of these top 5 players. He just doesn't have the edge.

If Rodge, Rod, Murray, Nadal, Soderling, Berdych, Djoker... go out early he has a chance

He doesnt even have a dark horse status

Hewitt is definitely the dark horse for the tournament. He is at least one of the top 3-6 grasscourters around today.

Dont see him losing to the likes of Soderling or Berdych and it would be very interesting to see him play Murray or Djoko on the grass, especialy given their lack of form.

Like the OP said he was very close to beating Roddick last year, and he has more experience on grass courts than pretty much anyone else.

Hewitt has no chance of winning Wimby. Just doesn't have the fire power to beat the top players or possibly even some big servers that aren't top players.

I doubt Hewitt will win it. His only weakness is that he doesn't have any major weapons that can hurt anybody other than his consistency and determination. I do think he'll make a solid run at Wimbledon and probably the US Open Series, as long as he stays healthy.

Of course, he might go really far...

That Roddick match was incredibly tight, you're right. If Federer doesn't raise his game then Hewitt would fancy his chances against him again.

I don't hold much hope for Murray finding his form again in the next week so that just leaves Nadal, who I feel is like a better version of Hewitt and would be too much for him.

just a knee jerk reaction to Hewitt's win at Halle
:)
Or a brain jerk reaction to all the other threads announcing WO winners in advance.

Last count we already have Nadal, Federer, Murray, Hewitt and Donald Young winning WO together.

If Hewitt faces Nadal, Nadal will dispatch him in straights. Sorry.

Another stupid knee jerk thread. The quarters would be a very good tournament for him. The semis would be an amazing one. And if Hewitt plays Nadal or Federer at Wimbledon he will be lucky to win even one set.

LOL. He won't even reach the second week. I will be bumping this thread when Hewitt gets beaten as usual. He is not a good player.

You've just gotta love the dreamers.

this is coming from the same guy who said "anyone who thinks anything but 2 sets to fed is a delusional hewitt fan or doesnt watch tennis". heh

and to those saying he doesnt have the firepower to take on the rest of the field; were you all hanging out in a cave when he took out jmdp last year (the same year jmdp trashed nadal and fed at the uso) and fed 2 days ago?
just because he doesnt have flashy 90km winners doesnt mean he doesnt have the footwork, strategic skill and will to take down a slam, on his favourite surface nonetheless.

now im not saying hes a favourite here, but we have some people saying murray has a shot but not hewitt? please.

Had he beaten Roddick in the QF last year, I think he would have made it to the final.

Now for this year, I think he can do some damage like last year, and with a bit of luck (draw) make it to the final. Given this, yes he could win W, but I don't think it's gonna happen. That would be great, though.

Hewitt is on the top 6-7 guys who can win it, but he's not as favorite as Federer, Nadal, Roddick and Murray, who I think most would agree are the top players on grass at the moment, despite losing at the 250 events.

I would love it if Hewitt won but I can't see it happening.
It's amazing what he has done with just a relatively ordinary serve.
He has to fight for every point whereas your Federer's and Roddick's get so many freebees.
It's incredible to think that he took an in form Roddick to 5 sets last year and should have won.
Then Roddick gave Federer a real run for his money and should really have won the final.
Unfortunately I really think last year was Hewitt's swan song.
He has incredible reserves of energy because he has to fight all the way.
Candidate for grittiest player of all time?
Who else would spring to mind for that accolade. Connors?

I agree with all but Murray, what has he really shown that could lead us to think he is a huge threat?

Hewitt's chances to win Wimbledon are about as high as Donald Young's to win calendar grand slam next year.

Hewitt is currently 43-1 on Betfair, slightly behind Djokovic who's at 39-1. Presumably you'll be happy to take 50-1 on Donald Young to win the calendar slam next year?

Hewitt should definitely be above Djokovic. This is grass. By the way are those the odds before or after Hewitt beat Federer in Halle?

I love Hewitt, but he's got zero chance to win it all. Don't get me wrong; he could make a deep run, depending on the draw. But I am completely confident in saying he has ZERO chance of pulling off the victory

It's a possibility, though unlikely. I would put him as fifth favourite, behind Federer, Nadal, Roddick and Murray.

I think if he got to a final against either Nadal or Federer he would lose, and if he met either of those two at the earlier stages he would go out.

He does have the potential to upset either Roddick or Murray though, so if the draw went right for him then who knows how far he could go.

You are saying this just because he won Halle. :|

That is very possible...
