lol USA today wrote about my letter to Federer

I agree with OP. This is similar logic to why I don't support Djokovic. It's because I don't like Adidas, who made boots for the Nazis in WWII. But now, he wears Uniqlo. But Uniqlo is equally bad since they are Japanese and the US went to war against them too. However, He still wears Adidas shoes. So in reality, he is a Neo-Axis sympathizer, parading around in modern WWII regalia. I know its just business, and its just how things are, but I can't find it in me to support Djokovic knowing this. I have mad respect for him, and love his game, but I just won't be along for the ride.
I'm just glad twitter wasn't around in the mid 20th century for Djokovic to post photos of himself supporting the Axis powers by wearing clothes designed by Germany and Japan. /s

It is clear you are very invested in the Pakistani cricket team falstaff. I am sorry they are putting you through so much trauma. Losing to India must have hurt. That was some spectacular collapse right at the start against the West Indies. The worst by any team in World Cup history.

Even ghosts seem to not leave Pakistani cricketers alone

This has been a rough trip down under for your team. My sympathies!

Uh oh, i am going to have to break it to you committed "allied forces" devotees that your boy djokavitch is three for three on axis worship.
Did you know that before djokovic went gluten-free, his childhood diet consisted primarily of pizza and pasta? Yes, Italian food. Food from italy. A third axis power. True story: his parents owned and operated a pizza and pasta restaurant in Serbia. Courses upon courses of Axisissy food courses through his veins. Curses through his veins, even. Eyetalian food. Designed in italy by italians.

Wait, he speaks serbo-Croatian. So....his language is slavic. And....So is russian. Cyrillic letters. Like the soviets.

Look, I Respect his return of serve, his fitness/movement and his incredible commitment and focus to be the best. But. He. Is. Evil. 3 out of 3 Axis of evil, circa 1941, plus a side order of soviet couture.

Must. Write. Op-ed piece. Must. Change. Life.

Well done, penguyen. Good stuff. Turned on Fed, now djoker.

Oh but now you have opened up a whole new can of worms, man. We need one of these for rafa fans now. Time for some more logic of falstaffian proportions.

I understand Rafa is from mallorca, which is a part of Spain. He speaks spanish. I am amurken. Spanish is the language of a ton of the immagrins who done took our jobs. Illegals, that is! So i am giving away all of my new nike shortshorts with the glittery pink stripe on tha side. Darn it! Just got seven pairs! But This is how committed i am to fandom, AND patriotism. This. This is the kind of loyal sports fan i am! I am a great amurican!

Oh shoot. Turns out this is not about all amurkens turning on rafito. Now, all christians, jews and muslims (people of the book) have to dispose of all rafa nike apparel and footwear displaying his bull logo. You see....The bull represents the golden calf or baal or whatever, and like, that is totally pagan. So not cool, not kosher and not halal.

Mad re5pek for his forehand and the whole humbalito ethos, but i just cannot continue to support this spanish-speaking pagan illegal!

Until i hear otherwise, murray is the only supportable member of the top 4. Wait what? Scotland is a part of GBR? Head spinning.

The OP has actually done us all a huge favor. By correlating tennis loyalty with religious, ethnic and nationalistic hate, we can finally get some clarity about why people like the players they do.

I often suspected that you Nadalnuts were all about suppressing the Basque and other minorities. And don't even get me started on fans of the "white" South African Kevin Anderson! Racists, all of you!

a guy who writes an extensive letter on his pathetic jingoism and then after the storm come and writes another testament to his sillyness and his indefensable clownage ideas...

yeah... internets... get over it!!!

/thread.

Well done.

I wonder if he also owns a Ferrari? That would make his support of the Axis complete. :p

Cue the sob story letters from Indian Cricket fans who feel betrayed and misled

Really, the Indians are the ones who legitimately should feel exploited here: Nike just cynically leading them on for profit when The Real Fed really doesn't give a damn

Poor OP, spends years collecting RF photos and merchandise without Roger even knowing he existed. Then when he finally gets on TheMightyFed's radar it's because he publicly cut ties with him for a nonsensical issue.

You get this all the time in football. For most fans their clubs are even bigger than the national team. They grow up loving and idolising players only to experience the ultimate form of perfidy when they are transferred to their clubs' rivals. Not sure why this warrants a letter of this nature. This is life, this is sport. We move on.

And as for those that refuse to 'love' or 'support' a player just because he is wearing a certain pair of trainers - do you realise how stupid that sounds? This is just overly sensitive and actually pretty narcissistic - most players won't even know what the fuss is all about.

I wore my (grey) RF cap today (with some embarrassment), went shopping to both Adidas and Nike stores. (The new RF caps really suck - orange and yellow or something like that, but i digress).

I bought a pair of Nike shoes and various other things, including a triple pair of black socks. Ran up a shockingly large bill.

The Nike store had an awesome larger than life pic of Federer smashing a tennis ball. That said, I have to say that their latest line of t-shirts (including tennis polos) really suck. Adidas manages to come out with much more decent designs. I still did find a rather nice all-black Nike tennis polo and an okayish pair of black shorts to express my grief.

Anyway, that's my sob story all the way from Delhi.

One isn't enough for all that pain...

I don't know why Indians should feel exploited. Most cricket fans have never heard of Federer, or may have just accidentally heard the name but really don't care about tennis. India is cricket-crazy, if some fan of another sport supports Pakistan, I doubt they would notice.

Nike seems to connect players across sports, earlier also there were pics of Sachin at Wimbledon. Cricket stars came to the IPTL and that probably (my guess) attracted more attention than the tennis stars themselves (along with some movie stars). It's probably what you call cross-selling.

However, in my opinion, tennis in India is more likely to gain from a cricketer expressing support than Federer supporting cricket. Whatever, it's really such a silly non-issue, if i were the OP i'd probably die of embarrassment that I had got Fed's attention with such a silly antic.

R.E your last paragraph...we haven't seem the OP for a while

I don't think anyone suggested that India should go into some sort of national grief because of this. Judging from the buzz the Fed-Bleeds-Blue picture incited, obviously some Indian fans "cared".

Assuming that hypersensitive persons don't solely exist in Pakistan, I am now eagerly awaiting tearful letters from India directed towards Nike and/or The Fed. And from South Africa. And from the Swiss national cricket team. WW3 is imminent. A WW of tearful epistolizing.
