Long Lost Hero

Legend
Joe Hunt the "forgotten champion"

Thanks for posting

Joe Hunt was ranked No. 1 in the United States in 1943, and he remains the only man to win the national boys' (then 15-and-under), juniors' (18-and-under), collegiate and U.S. men's singles titles. Unfortunately he died in 1945 serving in the US Navy. He probably would have won many titles like Jack Kramer, who he beat in the 1943 USO.

Very, very cool story. Bobby Riggs looks like Hunt's 10 year old son. I don't know how much I buy Hunt wouldn't have been able to continue against Kramer if he didn't win it when he did. He bageled Kramer 6-0 in final set and was only 23 years old. He also beat Frank Parker in the quarters and had two other semis at the US Open. I'm impressed.

Hall of Fame
"He was a very good-looking man with a body like Charles Atlas," Segura, 92, said in a recent interview. "He drew women to his matches."

Had he lived, added Segura, "He would have been good for tennis. He was a credit to the game."

The guy was a STUD, just look at him!
As Rosewall said "Riggs looks like his 10 year old son".

James Hunt, the car races was the hottest sex symbol of the 70´s along Borg...but this other Hunt could really give him a big landslide.

Rosewall, Kramer was severely handicapped by food poisoning in that match and yet almost won the final because Hunt was hampered by cramps...

joe sch, I doubt that Hunt would have won many titles like Kramer. The latter was much stronger plus there were Schroeder, Parker and Segura.

Robert Plant?

oh¡ just the universe of sports...Hunt had an awesome fame back then. There was recently a film on Lauda´s life and his rivalry with Hunt.

Now, the Hunt tennis player must have been terrific character.

Oh¡ the other big Hunt in the world of tennis is Lamar.

yeah that movie Rush was incredible, very gripping. The only better F1 movie I've seen is the documentary Senna.

I'm been tempted to buy the DVD. Is it worth it?

both are awesome. Rush is dramatized, but gripping like I said, great rivalry portrayal, very competitive (fantastic acting by the guy who play Lauda). Definitely must buy Senna though if you even remotely like F1.
