Longer lasting version of black code

Hi there, any strings that play similar to black code 17 but hold playability/tension better? I really like the feeling of ball sinking into the string bed, soft feeling, and all the spin. Though I feel I get about 8 to 10 hours before it starts flying a bit.

My history. I've tried tourna silver 7 tour, which I like but it hurt my arm. Also tourna big hitter black 7 was nice and soft but too powerful and a little thin feeling and almost too much spin. Signum pro poly plasma, felt too low power. I used to play many years with gut poly hybrid but enjoyed all the extra spin I got with full bed back code. I string full bed poly at 48 main 46 cross. The gut poly I did at 52/48.

Thank you

You're bound to get countless random suggestions of 5-sided spin strings, but the following three actually share the same behavioral profile as Black Code, with varying amounts of better tension maintenance and/or stability.

Good: Head Sonic Pro Edge (a bit better tension maintenance and playability)
Better: Weiss Canon Black 5 Edge (~10% better tension maintenance and playability, slightly lower power)
Best: Solinco Hyper-G Soft (20%+ better tension maintenance and playability, slightly higher power)

8-10 hours with 17 Ga poly is very decent longevity. If you need more power/spin, change ref tension up/down by 2#. BTW your arm is telling you to change strings when poly makes it ache. With poly, you don’t play it until it breaks.

Having played with black code a couple of times, I will recommend Ytex Square X in black (a bit different than the white). It has much better tension maintenance IMO and is cheaper. It has a bit of a muted feel to it because it's a softer edgy poly.

Thanks for the thoughtful answer.

Thank you. Am I wishful thinking hoping to get 12 - 14 hours of playability?

@Ramjet - If you're getting 8-10 hours with Black Code 1.24, then 12-14 with Hyper-G Soft 1.25 is absolutely doable. You might even get 15-20 depending on the string pattern and tension.

haven't read any of the thread, but:

it's a poly.

they're never going to last long. period.

if you "have to" play poly (and if you aren't a legit 5.0, then .. you don't) then buy a machine and learn how to string.
