What’s the story with Woldeab being in and out of singles lineup - I know injuries have been a notable part of his career, but, any specific injury he’s struggling with that makes dubs more manageable than singles?Lost the doubles point again.
Looking like that may be right. Tight second sets across the board. PA fighting back in his second setI’m sticking with my Texas pre-tournie prediction
Texas going to take 1,3,6
and one of the Braswells is going to clinch
I suspect similar to how UF fans felt two years ago in 2022 as they watched a whole bunch of guys graduate after a missed opportunity, ieWhat do you Longhorn fans make of the last few years?
Very good seasons and teams but did not capture a 2nd national title despite maybe being the favorite the last two years. Are you a bit disappointed to not capitalize on this window with at least more natty?
I'm pretty disappointed in this years result, mostly because I think UT really should have won it. Last year I think UVA was the better team though. What do you Longhorn fans make of the last few years?

Well, he’s a Longhorn now.Gorzny is just a tremendous player. Gorzny would have absolutely crushed Cleeve Harper.

Men’s Tennis signs international standout Sebastian Eriksson - University of Texas Athletics
Sebastian Eriksson, a native of Stockholm, Sweden, who is one of the top juniors players in the world, will join the Longhorns' roster for the upcoming season.texassports.com
i miss when only NBA players were moving around (and getting made fun of for doing so) and college guys were sticking it out for the most part...
The rich get richer. Texas tennis is a role model for other programs on how to recruit and how to sustain success. There’s rarely a dip in roster quality. On the contrary there’s a seamless transition to the next group of players that can keep them title contenders.
Gorzny supposedly received $115k in NIL for signing. Not sure that makes Texas a role model, but being able to throw around that kind of money certainly makes it easier for them to maintain roster quality. The rich get richer. They are playing by the new rules. A lot of traditionalists pine for the past but we have to live in the present. NIL is reality. Other big football schools should be setting aside finances to attract quality athletes to their non revenue sports. Am pretty sure they will. And if they don’t they won’t be the ones being held up as examples to follow.Gorzny supposedly received $115k in NIL for signing. FYI. Speaking with a player transferring for his 5th yr and could play just about anywhere. His experience is the private schools don’t come close to the publics when comparing NIL $’s.They are playing by the new rules. Not surprising. I’d also say almost without exception athletic facilities and amenities at public schools are way better than at private schools.FYI. The info came from a very widely-known figure in college tennis. Not sure where they got it from.I'm not so sure about this. Texas's NIL program, at least for tennis, seems to be underdeveloped. I know a few of the guys on the team and they seemed to indicate they got basically nothing in terms of NIL. Additionally, he never really opened up his recruitment and only focused on Texas. My belief is that he is going to Texas on a full ride now
True, especially at public schools that are not contenders. At P5 schools that are not contending for conference and NCAA titles, often there are little reason for good players to go there. Most good players want to practice and play with people who will make them better because they want to maximize their pro aspirations. I know of multiple players from mid-majors who would be at best line 6 or 7 had they transferred to a top 5 schools, but instead, took a full ride and 10k+ to be at lower tier P5
My understanding in TN is the student can add academic aid to the partial sports scholarship, but the coach/athletic program can’t influence any academic aide. Student has to get it on their own. May vary state to state .The info came from a very widely-known figure in college tennis. Not sure where they got it from.
On a separate-but-related note: if a state resident goes to state school on a full ride, does that count as a full scholarship (of the 4.5) for the coach, even though it's a lot less money than it would have been if the player had been from out of state?
