looking for a new racquet

I used to play the wilson Ncode 6.1 95 16 x 18 and was very happy with it. I have since tried the K factor and the BLX and haven't liked either of them. BLX has good feel, but plays heavier than the Ncode version.

I play mostly 4.5 dubs and some singles. I S&V in doubs all court singles, 2handed backhand rarely slice.

I am looking for something in the BLX 6.1 ballpark but plays a little lighter with similiar pop.

Should i look for used Ncodes 6.1's or look for a new frame?

some friends have suggested Babolat Pure Storm Tour GT--

any suggestions appreciated

If the spec's on the BLX are correct, that's not an outrageously hefty racquet. You might like it with a little weight added to the handle to get its balance a little more head-light, but you'd only really know if that would work out after you tried it with that alteration.

The Prince Ignite 95 is set up sort of like the Wilson 6.1 95's in case you haven't tried one yet, plus it's stock form lists at 11 points HL. I've enjoyed the 6.1 Classics for a long time and the Ignite wasn't all too unfamiliar when I tried it.

Because you have a double handed backhand a good babolat racquet would be the pdgt. I find it also good for volleying.

im not sure you're gonna get the same feel/pop off the PST GT. the PST is lighter and not as stable as either the n6.1 or the blx 6.1. it also feels kinda mushy off groundstrokes. personally, i didnt find the blx to be that much heavier than the n6.1. you might want to give the prestige pro a try, but i didnt find it to have the same power as either of those 6.1 95s.

The reason that the BLX felt heavier is because of the terrible quality control of wilson. There are BLX 6.1 rackets with variable swingweights, balance and weights. You just have to look for the right one...

I had two ncodes 6.1 16 x 18 but there was a swingweight difference of almost twenty pts. 321 and the other 339 and we're talking about exactly the same racket!!!!

This happens all the time with wilson. Now i have bought a racket kobra tour with a unstrung SW of 268!!!!!!! Much lower than it should be. QC of wilson is terrible!!!

That''s why i let them customize to my favourite specs....

You should know the specs of your old ncode and you only know the specs by measuring it and nothing else!!!!

When you have measured it then go to the shop and let them find a racket that has the same specs that means that they should MEASURE THE SPECS and compare it to your beloved ncode....

This is the only way to find the racket you're looking for.

Thanks, i will try the blx again, Head PP is a nice frame, swings easily, but lacks pop and has a slightly smaller sweetspot. PST GT i am just not sure about, seems to do everything well just with less power than my Ncode and I am not sure I want to give that up.

thx, i am going to give the blx another go

I too played years with the nCode PS 16x18 and had a difficulties finding a replacement. Now finally found a new stick in Head Youtek Prestige pro, just love it. You may also like the Dunlop Biomimetic 200 16x18

can you tell me about the head pp compared to ncode?

I found it to be more versatile and maybe gives a little more control. The balance of the racquet is very similar to the wilson. Swings pretty similar, maybe a bit faster as I mentioned. The contact is "crispier" but top spin comes quite similar, at least what i thought when playing with the same strings in the racquets. I felt immediately familiar with the Head from the first hit so I guess the sweetspot is in a similar place in the frame

i will try it, did the grip shape bother you?

Not really. I went from wilson L4 to head L4. With the leather grip the HEAD is a bit thinner but now i'm pretty much used to it while I had a thinner replacement grip on my wilson. After hitting some hours I was good with the shape
