Looking for a new racquet!

I'm on the search for a new racquet. Looking for something with a bit more spin and either better power or maneuverability than my LM Prestige MP. $100 is the price limit. I'm planning to demo four racquets first. I've tried lowering the tension but I didn't like the soft feel. I think I'll be sticking with a midplus sized head.

So far I think I am going to four of these.. not sure which yet. Any other suggestions or comments about these choices?
Slazenger Pro X1
Wilson Prostaff Tour 95
Wilson Prostaff 6.0 95
Dunlop Maxply Macenroe
Prince TT Warrior MP

nice choices for a new racquet. the only racquet i've played with is the slazenger. i wnat to try out the prostaff 6.0, specs are nice, and i've herad alot about the dunlop mcenroe, but from what i've heard, the slazenger's much better. I think you should demo the slaz and 6.0 if you wnat to reduce it to 2. Well, the slazenger, best racquet i've touched and played with, it feels really solid, feels lighter than 12oz and very manueverable. Control, one word pinpoint, it goes almost exactly where i want it, only racquet that i've played with that has the best control, and i've played with alot. Best touch for volley's, volleying is a dream with it. And serving, is amazing too, so much oomph man, it's just crazy, place that ball anywhere i wnat and seems to be more heavier. Spin, awesome, the only racquet i actually got a huge kick out of, i got more kick on grounds with the slaz than with the rdx mp. Cons are, rely's on yoru footwork, mines horrible, so i mishit alot, and not stable enough FOR ME. that's all i can really say, sorry, but hoped this helped you. Good luck dude.:)

I'd say the ncode 95 is good to try, Head rad fp mp/OS, new 300 mfil, Prince Shark mp, Wilson tour hammer, Babolat frames.

Ya, suggest adding Dunlop m-fil 200, 300, Head Liquidmetal Radical MP/OS, Head Liquidmetal 2, Head Liquidmetal 4, Head Liquidmetal Instinct, Head Liquidmetal Instinct Tour XL, Prince NXG, to the list to try

I would recommend the LM Instinct. They are dirt cheap now and are great racquets.
I've tried an NCode 95 and it's not maneuvrable enough for me and it's outside of the price range. The FPs and Sharks are also outside of the price range.

I'm not looking for a pure power light head heavy racquet so the LM2, LM4, and Wilson Hammers are a no.

I've tried a Babolat Pure Drive and a Babolat Aero Control and I hated the stiff harsh feel. They are also too expensive.

The NXG is extended and I use a one handed backhand so that is also a no. Instinct XL : ditto.

Any opinions about the
Slazenger Pro X1
Wilson Prostaff Tour 95
Wilson Prostaff 6.0 95 Scratch the 6.0 95.. didn't notice that it's 129 not 99
Dunlop Maxply Macenroe
Prince TT Warrior MP
Dunlop HM 300G
LM Instinct?

I'd look at Pro X1 and Dunlop M-Fil 300, which is eminently customizable and a great playing racquet. Probably X1 is more powerful.

Wilson Prostaff 6.0 95, yes, but where could you buy it under $100? But not sure it provides enough power in comparison with Prestige MP. Probably more maneuverable though.

Careful though, many are at the healthy stiffness limit.

I am looking with considerable interest at Fischer Retro, but not sure if it has enough power. Sites have it under $100.

Hmm I think I'll try out the
Slazenger Pro X1
Wilson Prostaff Tour 95
Dunlop Mfil 300
Head LM Instinct but still open to suggestions.
Hmm.. I don't think I'll be able to try the Fischer. They have no demos of it and that company charges a lot more for demoing two racquets than TW charges for four.

why don't you also try the mfil 200? it doesn't feel heavy at all. very maneuvarable. if you're use to the weight of prestige, it shouldn't be any problem. it's a very solid stick. i remember it was a dream to serve with. i was able to place my serve anywhere on the box with ease.

i haven't tried the slazenger or mfil 300 but the prostaff 95 used to be my main stick. don't remember much of it. i do remember that i was able to produce very heavy balls with it, on both groundstrokes and kick serve. but it was too light, not very solid. i recommend some lead at 2 and 10 o'clock. that's where i put it and got good results

I'm looking at the MFIl 300 because it has a more open pattern than my prestige.

both X1 and M-fil 300 are very customizable, however expect a 20g difference between their weight ranges.

suggest searching for threads on them.

Price high ? then try the 300G, or the LM Instinct - both good choices.

Bennieboi - he, he - he said he wanted more power, and last I heard Sharapova, and that great french kid ( Instinct, name escapes me )were players indeed, so therefore they must be ' players racquets'.

I haven't played the LM Prestige but I've played the Slaz X1 a lot lately. It has pretty good power and good spin but lacks a little heft from the back court IMO. Adding a little lead might help this but I haven't done that yet. It definitely is not going to feel soft, but it doesn't feel tinny either.

As for the others, I've only played with the 6.0 95. I like it, has a very buttery feel to the shots. However, something (weight, stiffness?) doesn't agree with my arm so I don't play it much anymore.

Not on the list probably because it is too expensive new but I also have been playing a lot with the O3 Tour. It's major drawback to me is it doesn't seem to serve as well for me as the Slaz. It does have more power, definitely more spin, pretty manueverable. Besides the price the drawback to me would be that it might be a little too soft feeling to you. I discuss it here because I've seen used ones in your price range on this board. Something to consider anyway.

If you can some how find a used o3 tour for $100 or less that could fit what your looking for. More spin and more maneuverab compared to LM Prestige MP.

yeah, they're tweeners aren't they? i'd understand the instinct to be more of a players frame, but the shark no, tweener for sure. And dude, they're pros, that's different, andy rod plays with a powerful ass babolat, which is a tweener, don't forget most pros use pjs. but anyways, i've hit with the mfil 300, i think the 300 has more pop than the slazenger, and less control than the slazenger, pretty stable for a light frame, but the slazenger's still a winner.

Hmm.. leading up the MFiL 300 would probably take a lot of lead since it's light and it's not very headlight (I'd need to counterbalance it.)

Right now the four I think I am going to demo are the
Slazenger Pro X1
Wilson Prostaff Tour 95
Head Liquidmetal Instinct
Prince TT Warrior MP

i just got a m fil 200 to tinker with and found it very light for its 12oz weight. with a 95 head size the 18x20 pattern opens up a bit more than the prestige which is my main bat. ez to hit spin with, and mucho control, strung it up with klip xplosive 17g at 58lbs.

In my search for new racquets, I demoed the m-fil 200, 300, and maxply.

The 200 seemed just a little heavy for me, partially because I wasn't in as great of shape as I ought to be. So one time switching between the 200, 300, and my old racquet to test them, and playing a practice match, my shoulders got awfully tired from the 200.

The 300 didn't feel so stable to me, and groundstrokes didn't have a good feel. It was good with volleys though, much easier to move around at net than the 200.

The maxply was simply amazing at net. Groundstrokes were in between the 200 and 300, but didn't feel all that great either. Well, due to the low price, I ended up getting the maxply, as I also liked it well enough more than the other two overall. Having purchased them, and playing with it now, it seems the ground strokes are much better than with the demo racquet. Maybe the proper size grip and strings helped. Having gotten used to the racquet certainly helped too.

So at the current prices, the maxply is the winner for me.
