Looking for hitting partner in Seattle, 5.0 level

Hello!

I just relocated to Seattle permanently and am looking for some hitting partners. I'm self-rated NTRP 5.0 and UTR ~10 (former collegiate player) and have been playing several times a week. I don't play matches/competitively anymore so just looking for someone to get a work out with, work on technique, baseline points, drills, etc (overall goal is to have fun while getting in some exercise!). If there are some groups or recommendations on how to find some hitting buddies in the area as well, I'm all ears! Thanks

Welcome to Seattle!

I have to say that I would think you’d be really popular as a hitting partner! Unfortunately, I can’t really help with a good source of players at your level. They are definitely out there but as a 62 year old 4.5, that’s not my tennis circle.

Depending on your age, you could check out the University of Washington and see if you can meet up with their club players. Club tennis was pretty popular in years past (not sure about recently) and had many players in the 4.5-5.0 range.

In Seattle, Sand Point and Amy Yee would be the two affordable places that are publicly accessible. I don’t know what opportunities there are at your level but it’s worth a call. There are several private clubs if you’re interested in joining but again, not sure of the playing opportunities at your level. Especially if you’re younger and in your 30’s, this area is just so expensive that many people that age can’t afford to join.

I’d be happy to host you at my club for a hit. I can hopefully answer more questions in person, and I can get the ball back well enough to get you some exercise if nothing else. If you’re interested, direct message me.

One other thing. The Washington State Open, a level 2 tournament, is held from July 29 through August 4th. It’s at the most exclusive tennis club in the area and worth a visit just to see the grounds. You’ll also be able to find the top players in the area competing. It’s held at the Seattle Tennis Club and will be open to the public. You should be able to find a lot of hitting partners there.
