Looking for info on MAD Academy in Ft. Meyers or Naples Fl.

Has anyone on this board ever attended a camp at the the MAD Academy in Ft. Meyers or Naples Florida? Are the programs at both facilities the same? If not, what are the differences and which do you recommend? Can you report on your tennis experience at this program? What is the age group, level and programs like? Is it only geared to school kids? Did you see any adults at the program?

Mark Davis and Mike DePalmer Jr. run the MAD Academy and were both formerly of Bollettieri’s and Mike DePalmer Jr. was also Boris Beckers coach and other ATP and WTP players.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Hi - i was at a junior tournament last week at the sanchez casal academy in naples and saw a kid wearing a MAD t-shirt playing a match (being watched by a few other kids wearing similar t-shirts and a few adults who may have been the coaches or parents). So it does appear to exist, but unfortunately don't have much more info on it.

Thanks for the reply Subprime...what were your impressions of the Sanchez Casal academy in Naples. I'm thinking about heading down to that area. I believe the Mad Academy will be much less coslier, but often you get what you pay for....that is why I was throwing out the inquiry.

Arew there any other resorts/programs in the area that you'd recommend-for a teen and adult?

My overall impression of S-C was favourable, though being quite new (I believe they've been there for one year) they have some issues to iron out. They have an adult program, however, having had a rather negative experience at another academy based in Bradenton, I asked if I could play outside their program and structure my own. On this point, they were extremely accomodating, and I was able to hit with their Spanish coaches (which is exactly what I wanted). They had a group of juniors training there over the summer, and I managed to hit with them a few times. I don't know if there were any kids/parents present when I was there, but I'm sure they could arrange for it. If you are interested, I can recommend a couple of coaches there. I drove around the area a bit and saw a few other tennis clubs, but am not aware of any other academies.

Thanks for the reply Subprime. I'd be interested in getting more info from you on S-C, and other Naples tennis club related info you may have.

If you prefer, we can continue this conversation by direct email, if that is more efficient. Let me know.

I know a some about Mark. He is a very nice guy and a good Pro. I have taken a few leassons from him. I am rated 4.0. I have sent my 10 year old son there but feel that at his age it is a little bit to much for him. I will definately be snding him there when he is older.
