Looking for strings that play like a board... Recomendations please

I like that unbroken in fresh boardy string job feel. It never feels too boardy for my tastes, but poly's lose tension so fast I just can't hold on to that feel / control.

I've been hybriding poly's with multi's typically. Last year I was using prince lightning mains, and prince tournament poly crosses. then moved to Silverstring. Right now playing with RIP control and like that at 60lbs.

I want to experiment with something new.... Seeking this: Feels boardy and tight / holds tension / control / spin / moderate power. I don't have elbow problems. Playing a BLX six.one 95. Help...

kevlar mains. kevlar crosses.

Forten Aramid Gear, feels like a board even at 45lbs
Red Alert won't make your arm fall off, though. :)

Forten Kevlar, they have two kinds I think. Starts off boardy and stays boardy! If you accidentally leave it (strung) in your car on a really hot day it will soften up though.

Kevlar mains.

For open pattern frames (like O3 Red), I like syn gut crosses.

For denser pattern, I recommend using poly crosses for better spin. Use a poly that holds tension well.

For the BLX 95, I'd recommend Kevlar/Poly in the mid 40s.

Thanks for the input guys. The reviews on the Ash 18g are very positive. Will try that for my mains... First timer with kevlar and looking forward to testing it. I have no interest in power from my strings... Wilson Red Alert is such a bargain, i'll try that too.

18g with durability will be interesting. I would think that gauge of string would have a lot of bit on the ball.

Crossfire 18 is pretty good, so is Forten Thinblend.
String low. Some of the above posts were not entirely serious!
Don't go full Kevlar. Your arm will fall off!

Probably little point in using gut. Ashaway's and Forten's crosses, as comes in the sets, are quite soft and durable.

Yeah, probably so. I was looking for the thread it popped up it a bit ago but couldn't find it. A couple people were swearing by it.

i use pro blend at 42lbs and cross it with polylon at 48..kevlar is what you are looking for...low powered, dead, hold tension well with no suprises... if you have let your racket sit or haven't played for a few days play is consistent from your last hit

Back when I used it, the best Kevlar was Gamma's Extreme Spin 19. They stopped making it after poly's took off, but it can be found in a hybrid package known as 'TNT Fusion Plus 19':

It's basically a twised/textured Kevlar. When I found out they stopped making it, I bought every pack I could find. I still have ~ 30 packs left and I use them in a customer's Microgel Radical crossed w/ Natural Gut. Its strung @ 60 w/ the crosses @ 64. Plays like aboard from start to finish, just the way he likes it...

BTW...Kevlar is a trademark of Dupont. The actual fiber is known as Aramid.
