Hey folks, I'm looking for a top level pro for private lessons or clinics in San Jose, CA. I'm trying to bump my game up to the next level (currently stuck at 4.0). I was hoping someone may have experience with a good pro...someone with competitive experience at a high level would be preferable. I particularly want someone with an eye for detail that can help me with some technical refinements in regard to serve and balance/footwork workouts. I also like to work hard so I'm not interested in someone who hits a ball or two then sits around and talks!! I would be interested in any pros that you may have worked with that you feel raised your game to another level. Thanks, you can e-mail me offline if you prefer...benh2023@comcast.net

Maybe John Yandell knows of someone.

Small world!! I actually used to take lessons from John Yandell many years ago when he was just getting into the video tennis gig....on his rooftop court in San Francisco!!!! Ben.

You and Brad Gilbert are both in NorCal. Question is can you afford Brad?

Seriously, pay a visit to any of the top junior tournaments in your area. Track down the top seeds. If your lucky you will find them with their coaches. Most likely, they will be the ones you are looking for.

I find that once you get to a certin skill point, instruction will not really get you much further. If you have a flaw in your game, like weak volleys, then you need general instructions. If you generally are solid but want to improve, you need better playing competition and practice. You should look into higher level tournements. You may also want to contact local college scholarship kids to find a paid hitting partner so that you can adjust to a faster, heavier ball.

At what level do you start look for a hitting partner? Currently, the coach told me my technique is good, and I only need to practice more to be competative. I wonder if it would be a time to drop expensive lessons.
