Looking to shake things up

Hey all,

Been playing with Confidential for about 4-5 years now. I really enjoy it, and I'm not necessarily looking to switch, but I also like to try out new strings once in a while in case something new catches my eye. I just switched to the Pure Aero so I figure it's a good time to look around and see what's available.

Looking for polys that offer great feel. Spin/durability are next in importance. Power is the lowest priority. I'm ~ a 10 UTR, heavy spin, big serve. For reference, I'm breaking my confidential strings after ~8 hours of hitting (give or take depending on the type of play). When I was using my old prestige MP (18x20) before the switch I was getting closer to 15 or so hours of play before breakage.

Thoughts on strings to try?

Element, if you want great feel and don't care about power. It's durable (for me, I don't break poly strings though, just multis) and pockets great, feels amazing. 4G is a little crisper but also feels good, might give you some more spin. So will Tour Bite, but that doesn't feel quite as good as the Lux strings IMO. Maybe depends on your racquet too?

I've been eyeing both of the luxilon strings! Any other difference between element and 4G? Thoughts on volkel cyclone?

I've tried tour bite. It was good until hyper g and confidential came out. I think they have a better mix of attributes for me than tour bite.

Cyclone is probably not going to be as durable as Confidential, so I'd go with the 15L if you try it. I think you'll still get power and playability with it.

1. Head Lynx (NOT Tour, the regular stuff) great feel.
2. Poly Tour Strike 1.20, little dampened but not muted.
3. Head Hawk Power
4. Big Banger Original, just a classic, raw and connected but not so dead.
5. Element Soft IR if you are really anti-power it might not be a great fit. It isn't too powerful but has some.

Hey all,

Been playing with Confidential for about 4-5 years now.
-have confidential strings been arround really 4-5 years ago????
-it seems like they just showed up 2 maybe 3 years?

-anyway, check out msv.focus.hex
-or topspin.cyber.twirl

-both of these are a bit old school, some earlier generation shaped polys
-they should be at a great price point now

Not anti power, element and big banger are on my list to try. Hadn’t ever considered Head string, how do they compare to Solinco?

What do you have against your? I actually haven't tried the original stuff
Nothing against Tour, just making it more overt that I mean the regular Lynx.
Most people only know of Lynx Tour.
Lynx Tour has a little too stiff of a feel for me and I think you always lose a little feel with shaped strings, otherwise it is a good string.

Element Soft is different from the other varieties, it was new this year.
Head is on par with Solinco, in my experience, in some cases probably better.
Head strings are really underrated, IMO.

Interesting. I’ll have to pick up a set and try it out. Most racket branded strings I’ve tried from Wilson, Babolay and Yonex haven’t been my favorites so I didn’t think to try head

Looks like almost 4 years:

I was part of the playtest when if first came out. Didn’t really care for it, honestly.

1. Great name
2. What was it you didn’t like? The feel? I find a sizeable split between my friends when choosing hyperg or confidential due to the feel. Lots moving to hyperg soft
