Looking to Travel Somewhere for Winter to Play

I live in New England which means winter weather for the next 5-6 months. I work from home full-time, so I can live anywhere.

Anyone know a good place (maybe a large club?) where I could live cheaply and play outdoors daily? Thinking about taking a 1-month trip just to escape the nasty winter here.

I can't comment on the "live cheaply". My favorite for the winter is Naples Florida and Sanchez Casal is also located there. You can get a one month membership there quite cheap; however, winter is peak season in Florida so everything there is also expensive for accommodation and food. That being said, Naples Florida is very comfortable in the winter.

Florida is a pretty weird place though, no offense intended. How about Palm Desert, you can find an affordable long term rental easily there and lots of places to play tennis.

Not sure what qualifies as cheap, but AZ this time of year is very nice for weather with lots of outdoor courts around. COst to get here from NE might be $$$.

It is much easier and shorter to drive from NE to Naples than from NE to AZ :p

Weather in Naples this time of year is very nice too, between 75 and 80 degree

Do you play there? I just googled the place and it is MASSIVE compared to anything in my area. I see they have programs for adults, which could be up my alley.

You mean Sanchez Casal? Yes, it is massive because it is a tennis academy :):):)

Most of the courts there are clay couts but they have about 3 hard courts there. The place has programs for adults as well.

@bobleenov1963 did you play in their adult program? How was it - can you describe your experience?

I'd be traveling alone as a NTRP 5.0 (UTR 10). Some matchmaking would be great. I suppose I could just participate in their training program and probably get matched with some good players.

No I didn't participate in the adult program when I was there. I traveled with my kid and he got unbelievable coaching from some of the best ATP coaches there. There are plenty of adults who are members there year round and you can hit with them.

Just come to Austin and play on the ladder, the city leagues, and hit with tons of good players who have availability during the day.

Fort Lauderdale/Weston/Hollywood has a lot of options - Lauderdale Tennis Club, Jimmy Evert, Veltri, Weston, Coral Springs
Palm Beach Gardens has a nice public facility
Naples is great but expensive
Orlando has the USTA campus and cheap housing
Tampa/St Petersburg/Clearwater
