Looking to upgrade my old Wilson K Six One Tour 90

Hi,
A former 4.0 doubles player looking to play again after close to 15 years.
Always played with the K Six One Tour 90 and really like the buttery feel and stability at the net.

I'm looking to upgrade to a 98 sq in racquet that still keeps the heft (12 oz) and stability of the 90.
I recently tried the RF 01 Pro and did not like it. Felt light and didn't feel the same control.

Any recommendations please? Thanks.

why not an RF01 weighted up with lead to your happy spec?

nothing new on the market that wouldnt require a lot of customization. best bet is used rf97 or pure strike tour with leather. the pure strike tours can still be found new on a certain auction site.

Maybe a positive that there aren't many options in the weight class. Not too many racquets that fit the bill, especially if you think 320g static unstrung is too light. I would try the Yonex Percept 97H, which is 330g and plenty stable. 97 square inches but you won't notice the difference.

Damn, k factors are closing in on being 20 years old. Vinatage baby! More time has passed between k factors and today, then between Pro Tour 630s and k factors. :o

I was on **** looking today and had the same thought. Def can’t buy a decent one anytime soon though, going for a lot!

My $0.02 is to try the following:
Obvious Answers:
- TF40 315
- Used RF 97
- Pro Staff 97
- Prestige Pro 16x19 (Prestige Pros are true 98s, prestige tours are the 95s)

Less Obvious/need customization
- Pure Strike 98 - You can add a leather grip to the handle to get it to ~315g and more weight as needed, but has a beefy swing weight and lots of pop
- Pro Staff 97 weighted up to your spec
- Ultra 97/Blade Pro - Again, with a leather grip weighted up as needed, great platform with a buttery feel but definitely more flexible than the K90

None are perfect fits, but should give you something to go on. It’s hard to say without more context, and if you feel the RF 01 Pro was light you’re unfortunately just not going to get what you’re looking for stock and you’ll have to customize whatever you get imo

+1 for the TF40 315. Even with the relatively high static weight these take weight very well and maintain good ease of use due to the low stock swing weight. They probably feel closer to what you're accustomed to as well: more traditional, plush feel on contact. I have mine at ~340g strung with overgrip & dampener and ~325 swingweight and it's a blast to use.

Probably the Pro Staff 97 V14 is your best bet for a familiar feel.
I'd consider a Blade Pro, probably 18x20 just for the flatter trajectory but maybe 16x19 and just up the tension a bit. This one you may have to add weight if youre set on the 12oz mark but it has a nice high SW so punches above its weight class.

Maybe even try a Gravity Pro, quite different but plays with alot of control and feel. I think it could be a solid move. (This is probably my top choice)

Volkl C10 Pro is still around.
The 12oz market is getting smaller and smaller.

I'm going to give the Pro Staff 97 v14 a try. Also like the look of the V13. Looks a bit more like the K90.

Will also give the RF 01 Pro another look.

The Microgel prestige Pro is my other racket. I've always found it to be solid at the baseline and serve but lacking stability on the volleys. I wish there was a racket that combined both their abilities.
I'll also try the new Prestige Pro and MP.

Thanks for the replies.

@chiruanna - It’s almost like I wrote the OP :) I’m in my 50s and have a relatively flat forehand but a spinny THB. I do need an arm friendly racquet.

I happened to go from the k-factor 6.1 Tour to the Microgel Prestige Pro as well. Prior to that, I was still using the PS85. Upon returning to the game after a couple decades, I settled on the Pure Strike 98v3 and now the new Pure Strike 100v4 for match play and the Clash 98v1 all other times for elbow health.

I love the Pure Strike with x1 BiPhase and the new version is ALOT more arm friendly than previous. It’s also very plush, with multis anyway. Might suggest demo’ing that. I have not played with the more recent Pro Staffs to compare.

K90 was my main for a very long time. I fortunately have two Pro Staff 97s v11 weighted up in my arsenal

I weighted up an RF01 Pro and didn’t work. Not enough control. I weighted up a Pro Staff 97 v14 and it flexes weird for me. I liked the Pure Strike 97 but it is a little muted. I also like the Furi Arma Pro 98 weighted up. Going to try the Vostra V10 320, a weighted Pure Drive 98 2025. The Six One 95 18x20 is also an option
