Lopez takes a record from Fed

I'm sure he wasn't exactly a 100% in all of them, but nonetheless pretty impressive which is why its annoying that people are on his case for now skipping slams at age 35ish
That's why it's so impressive. The odds of being 100% in all those majors are almost 0%, so this is a huge deal.

It takes some discipline in diet, training and fitness to achieve that. So kudos to that. A better result set to show along the way would've been better though.

It takes a lot more than just that. Tons of talent and genius scheduling.

Of course. Agreed.
I think even if Fed had 15 majors, I would still probably consider him the goat, just based on his consecutive streaks and the fact that he was nr.1 at age 36 and won 3 slams past age 35 and based on his versatility too and 6 WTF titles and 310 weeks nr.1.

Only makes sense that this record goes to someone that doesn’t go deep in every tournament he enters. Otherwise his body could never keep it up. Although it’s impressive that Federer owned this streak for so long, it’s honestly the record I care least about him losing.

Ha nice one! I knew he was close, but didn't know it was tied already. It's a nice record imo, shows that you could be a at least top 100 player for nearly 17 years and stay relatively injury free. Great longevity, good record for a nice player.

I wonder how long Lopez has left on tour given he's going to be the Madrid Tournament director from next year.

Yes, the most inconsequential record held by the Maestro.

So be it.
For a player who has never sniffed the top 10 it is indeed a great record, though. It points to a long, successful career. We tend to forget that playing a Grand Slam means you're among the best of your sport. The more GS you play, the longer you've been amongst the very best.

People are so caught up in the GOAT debate we forget most players are out of it, and the yardstick can't be the same for them that we use for the ATG.

Congrats Feliciano. He's still aiming at 69.

I think it is impressive in that he's:

1. Been on tour a long time, so kudos for that in and of itself.
2. Been healthy enough to compete and not miss a Slam, and a lot of that has to stem from his style of play.
3. Been ranked high enough to get into that many Slams in a row, no matter how far he progressed in them.
4. And had his body hold up for so long, again thanks to genetics, diet, training, scheduling, etc.

I'm not sure he's lording it over Fed that he has the record, but it's something to be proud of. It has merit, even if it's just for him personally. Of course, we can always count on TTW to crap all over anything and everything.

I look forward to seeing Feli and Delpo in round 2.
