Losing badly, then winning goodly....against same opponent

If anything, I have already begun my inevitable decline back to 3.5

Very sensible thinking here. If the idea is to compete with 4.5 players while "looking like a 4.5", the plan is very unlikely to succeed.
If you look at many YT channels, guys who win at least a handful of matches at 4.5s are ex-college players (except MEP)

Is your 4.5 rating a result of dubs matches? I suspect it is.
My weapons do not hurt a 4.5 singles player.

Overall winning % = 58
Doubles winning % = 57; comprises 3/4 of total matches
Singles winning % = 60; comprises 1/4 of total matches

So you're partially correct: my rating is 75% due to doubles.
But the only way you'd be fully correct is if my doubles winning % was a lot higher than my singles.

You can't get 4 games off of a one level higher player unless you had weapons [or they were goofing off or had a very bad day].

The flaw in this model could be if your 4.5 singles wins were against 4.5 dubs players who are not real 4.5 singles players, who just happened to be playing 4.5 singles (badly).
When that is the case, then one's 4.5 singles record is distorted.
All of this is the underlying premise that a 4.5 singles player is ex-college like Mark Sansait, who is my archetype of a real 4.5 singles player, the model we delusionally aspire to.
You know it when you see it.

Interesting. I genuinely thought you had a chance. You’re fit enough so I doubt your age is a factor. You’ve developed your strokes quite a lot. You’ve improved your game style, tactics significantly. You seem to have a lot of time to practice and play matches. What’s missing?

Either are possible but highly unlikely given the sample size is > 100 matches.

You have really high standards since Sansait is now a 5.0.

Are you going to get to 5.0? Probably not. But you stand a chance to get to 4.5 if you can get 4 games off of a 4.5. Not Sansait-4.5 but 4.5 nonetheless.

He is clearly downplaying his chances like his fellow lefty with a few french open titles.

This "could have/would have" could be easily settled by playing mep, the internationally recognized 4.5, like trav did.

In the Atlanta H&H?? I'd have to get there a month early just to acclimate.

@GSG: you gonna be in SoCal any time soon?

Please don't blow your shot to become ttw legend by thinking about H&H. In addition, competing with mep makes you an automatic high 4.5 in TDR (TTW Dynamic Rating), the most respected rating system.
