Losing some weight and definitely seeing improvement (what sorcery is this?)

Hey man, great stuff with weight loss (y)

My criticism will be with you slipping back to preparing very late. Doesn’t look good, leads to slapping, weakfish FHs, and unnecessary BH slices

Thanks! I definitely noticed that I prepared late this session--on just about every shot.

losing weight for me has a direct positive impact on my footwork (eg. split step every shot, more adjusting steps, sustained for hours vs. minutes, no short cuts, etc...)...
and improved footwork has more impact on my "strokes" than any technique tweak :)

Being in shape in tennis is probably one of the best things that you can improve in overall singles game.

Can outhustle players, can use your core more (kinetic chain), can beat players who are fundamentally better by outlasting/outhustling them/

If you gave me a choice between a 4.0 player (sorta out of shape- just plays rec for fun) versus 3.5 player (in great shape and trains on off days for tennis cardio/lifting weights) my money honestly would be on the in great shape 3.5 player.

I feel you! Losing weight is one of the best things you can do to improve you game (and your life in general) I've lost 50lb's since last year and it has helped me tremendously. I can't tell a huge difference in things like speed myself, but my opponents have mentioned that I get to a lot more balls than I used to. On top of getting to more balls I am in better position and hit better shots more often. And I can definitely tell I have a big increase in stamina and endurance in longer points and matches.

I think traverajm and I would have a good match. Who are you guys picking? He's probably a bad match up for me because he's so unlike my regular partners/opponents.

I usually use Miami as my layover when going to and from SA and Seattle, but if I feel I need an armbar I might switch it up and stopover in DFW.

Oddly I am up over 20 pounds from this time last year, and I am playing some really solid singles and dubs lately. I imagine I would be doing much better 20 pounds lighter, but I really wish I was sucking right now becuase playing decent is just another excuse to put off dropping lbs. Honestly, I can talk myself into anything. :giggle:

When are you coming to Dallas? Let's play before you lose the weight! ;)
