Losing tension with time?

What’s up guys, I wanted to ask you - If I string racket now at 55lbs and play 2-3 times till April 2018, would string lose much tension even without much playing? Or does string lose tension even without playing over time, like 6 months in my case? Thanks a lot!

Depends on string as well as tension. NG will lose about 5-7#, then stabilize if stored properly. Nylon based strings like SG and Multis will also lose about 7-10#, then stabilize if stored properly. Polys lose the most tension, but will not lose any more tension unless used. It too must be stored properly. That means out-of-sunlight, reasonable temperatures and humidities without wild swings.

Big caveat about poly. If you used the poly strings for 8 hours, cut them out before storing the frame. The poly is probably dead or near death.

I use only poly, and I change strings once per year, so I played approx 60 hours with the same string. I plan to change next year more frequently, maybe every 20 hours.

I feel that after maybe 8-10 hours like you said string grabs ball worse but I continued to play with it anyway

No haha.. I play 2-3 times per week from April to October, during November-March playing only few times indoors because it’s off season here.
I see. I don't know about you, but if I take more than a few days off, strings are the last thing I'm worried about. My strokes, on the other hand... ugh. I can't tell the difference in my strokes with different racquets or strings after a couple of weeks off.

That’s true but in 1-2 weeks I’m back at it... have kind of tennis memory... also now I added lead tape at 3 and 9, each together 6 grams
