This is closest Tsitsipas got to becoming bonafide superstar. He beat Medvedev in RG QF, Zverev in SF and had 2-0 lead vs Djokovic. If he won, this win would be among the best wins in tennis. But after 2 sets, Djokovic completely overshadowed him. This has to hurt a lot.

US Open will be in this list a bunch of times. But this is his worst loss. Alcaraz was 18 year old player, full of confidence but no experience. Tsitsipas had already played in slam semis and finals. The match took place on AA. Tsitsipas lost 2 sets in tiebreaks, both times having chance. This was prelude of what was coming.

What a choke vs Coric. Tsitsipas was leading in first 3 sets. Coric shattered his confidence. This draw without Djokovic, there was high chance for Tsitsipas to reach a sf, the contenders in his draw were Shapovalov, PCB and Zverev. Hell he could have a chance to play in USOpen final and that too without Big 3.

Coric again took a big title chance away from Tsitsipas. At this time, people thought with no big 3, Tsitsipas having beaten Medvedev before, he had chance to win the hc masters. But he got bageled by Coric.

Despite what the score shows, Alcaraz totally humiliated Tsitsipas. He hit 12+ successful dropshots in 90 mins. Tsitsipas had no look on his serve. He was very dejected after the loss.

Alcaraz put final nail in Tsitsipas's coffin. He was going to be routined in under 2 hrs but inexperience of Alcaraz allowed him to make the match somewhat respectable. Yet after the match, it looked much worse for Tsitsipas.
Alcaraz seems to have done maximum damage to his confidence.

Then next year he beat Roger Federer in Australia in epic 4 setter followed by Nadal in Madrid in a great 3 setter match. But last few years, especially since Alcaraz came on the tour, Tsitsipas seems to have accepted his fate that he will need to be lucky to win big titles now.
