Lost only 14 games in this entire tournament, Broken only 3 times in MC.

Looks to be back in brilliant form. It'll be interesting to see if he can keep this up, I certainly think he can.

Indeed a very dominating performence. I won't be even slightly surprised if he wins Rome in similar fashion.

I´m happily surprised that i can find reasonable federer fans like you, who can discuss about tennis politely and trying not to be too biased. I´m glad there are not only trolls here. Congratulations

Just gloating a bit don't be mean. He hasn't won a toruny in 11 months forgive a girl.

well he is the best clay court specialist in the world without a doubt. Especially when many of the top players aren't there.

That only confirms he has no energy saving skills, which is necessary for staying fit. He goes for a beat down on everybody, hands out bagels and sticks.
And then he goes on vacation.

Agony is a nice guy who can appreciate a good tennismatch no matter who played it. quite the opposite to the very odd-Jack who talks BS in every thread about Nadal:roll:

yeah you are right.

if federer was here he would have destroyed nadal.
oh wait, nadal is up 9-2 against fed on clay

but definitely if delpo was here he would have crushed nadal.
oh wait, nadal thumped him in 2007 FO in straight sets

but for sure daveydenko would have vaporized nadal.
oh wait, nadal thumped him both times they played on clay.

8)...........

Well -- and I say this as a FEDAL fan, as well as one that was somewhat puzzled -- you must have missed P_Agony's rantage in that very strange "Monte Carlo is a low-quality event" thread.

But I am intrigued to see what P_Agony has had to say about Rome, considering that Roger will be there and is no slouch on clay.

But to return to topic, babbette, you're right -- that stat of the Rafanator's is most intimidating.

Thank you.

Yes... especially if Rome ends up being another low quality event

Hopefully even if Nadal wins, this time there will be some memorable matches, some 3rd sets, tiebreaks, great fights and lots of drama. Last year MC Nadal won as well but it was TONS better than this year's MC.

I said MC 2010 was a low quality event, and for the 100000th time, it has nothing to do with Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer. If you'd have actually bothered to read the original post of that thread you'd have noticed that as well. The word 'Nadal' was not even written there not once.

As for Roger, he can make a lot of difference but he can also make no difference at all. If he plays like crap and give us more horrible matches he wouldn't improve anything from MC, only make it worse (if that's even possible).

Meh! We're lucky if we see two really decent matches in any tournament that's not a major. You've been watching tennis for a long time and should know this.

BTW, the draws/entry lists in the next two tournaments will be about the same as they were in MC.

Wait, Nadal winning too easily is a sign that he is using too much energy?

As opposed to longer, more drawn out matches?

Huh? Remember the clay MS events in 2008? Now those had some exciting matches, and guess what, Nadal won those as well! Heck, even Rome 2008, where Nadal and Federer got knocked off early, had a very refreshing final in the form of Djokovic vs. Wawrinka.

How about Madrid last year? I could name at least 3-4 matches that were good in there, and also in MC 09 (didn't really watch a lot of Rome last year though).

I think what he means is that Nadal spends a lot of energy trying to break serve multiple times where one break of serve is fully enough for him given how great and consistent he is on the dirt. Nadal can certainly break once and then rely on his own serve to finish sets and matches, with spending much less energy.

So that's approximately 4 matches you recall out of 9+ clay tournaments (45+ matches).

Congratulations! I'm sure he played really well as usual.

It's a bit of a shame for me personally as Monte Carlo was my favourite tournament, although nowadays it's pretty much a none event with Nadal destroying everyone in sight.

No doubt it's great for all his fans, but as someone who neither likes nor dislikes him, seeing the same person dominate to such an extent for so long can get a bit dull.

It's crazy how he pretty much plays the same number of clay court tournaments as all the other top pros and he is still so dominant.

Do you whine about Fed having won the ridiculous number of 16 slams? Coz 16 slams in 7 years is boring and sleep inducing.

yeah you are right.

That's almost as relevant as Moya beating Nadal in 2003.

I actually get bored at both Fed winning all the time and Nadal dominating on the clay. I love watching tennis on clay more than anything and really appreciate Nadal for his incredible talent, but seeing him be so dominant at MC only makes me less excited about RG.

I stopped reading.

Heh, winning easily you call it. It's not easy.
The match maybe 30 min shorter. But when he fights to win each point and break the opponent 3 times for a bagel it puts more stress on his body and more risk of injury. Plus, on clay it takes more power to beat down your opponent than on faster surfaces.

On average, Nadal has had faster matches than most other players, but why has he had more injury? And why most of his injuries show up right after clay season?
:)

I would have to agree with the OP; fantastic performance, and one which would break any opponent's heart. What I find even more amazing is the Fernando did not play badly at all and still won only one game!

Gloaters are never sympathetic-especially after such a dominating showing- but I forgive you because 11 months without anything was too much for you spoiled nadal fans.:)

He's still slamless though.:p

i dont understand the logic of some posters here.

would you rather have someone play mediocre clay tennis to win a tournament or someone absolutely deserving. this was a clay master class. It was a pleasure to see rafa school the clay court field yet again.

I thought it was a world class performance and I also think Fernando played well enough to win, if it hadn't been Nadal across the net.

oh the one who currently holds 3 of the 4 slams???Doesn't make any sense.:)

Is that Federer in your avatar?

I thought it was someone else!

I even thought maybe it was some male model / gigolo judging by the ridiculous hat and shirtlessness.

Oh, Federer, why?
