Lotto Mirage 100 SPD Thread

The shoes arrived today, but they definitely run a size small. I can't give a good review based on the five minutes I had them on.

I love the fact that they come with insoles of two different thicknesses to customize the fit.

It's been years since I wore raptors and I don't remember what size I wore. What I can tell you is that my normal size is 11.5 and I definitely need a 12 in the Lotto Mirage 100 SPD.

They are a little tight in the toe box. The overal width is good. The heel is locked down. The fit me pretty decently. The remind me a little of Vapor 9. Much better than the Vapor X. I’ve played 2 hours in them so far.

hows the cushioning? Is it a light shoe?

It feels light. Has better cushioning than the Raptors to me.
Never tried the raptors but I am in the market for a new shoe. Currently using Vapor Xs and stopped using cage 3s because the cushioning was rough. I am a size 11 should I size up a half for this model?

anyone able to do a comparison vs raptor iv?
those shoes were great and it would a pleasant surprise if the mirage is anything like the raptors.

that's what i was afraid to hear. very difficult to get something as good as the raptor. just from the pictures the mirage doesn't look anything like the raptor. i would like to hear what other people who have tried both have to say.

I wanted to try one out but there isn't my size and TWE has a hard time stocking them. By curiosity I tried a size down since the Stratosphere 2 ran an half size bigger than other Lotto shoes do, and the Mirage ended up an half size too small relative to the Stratosphere 2, so no dice.

@Lukhas. how did you find Statosphere 2 compared to Raptor IV btw?

Little in common. The Stratosphere series is lower to the ground, lighter and the first iteration was also very soft and comfortable. It's not as light as a Vapor/Solution Speed, but lighter than the Raptor IV. The Stratosphere 2 is IMO an improvement over the Stratosphere 1 by virtue of having a stiffer upper that helped a lot with stability. Dunno about the 3 or 4, haven't tried them.

I can tell you I have every raptor from the 1st one to the Evo. This one sucks Lotto made the greatest shoe and I was excited to see they were back. I got them and like I said horrible. I compared them to my old ones and not even close. Try the new balance Lav

I agree. Lotto arguably made the greatest tennis shoes with their Raptors. I guess i won’t be in a hurry to try the mirage. Diadora is putting out nice shoes these days it seems. I might consider that

I liked the Diadora just a little too wide. The Lav is hard to put on but really nice so is the new Wilson rush 3.0. I wish Lotto would just bring back the IV my favorite

wide works for me. i had to go half a size up on Raptor IV (surprisingly not with Raptor iii)

How’s the new Wilson Rush Pro? i tried all from the original to 2.5. really nice shoes though not as perfect as the Raptor. is the 3.0 an improvement?

Rush 3.0 was really nice lighter then 2.5 and a little better fit. I picked the Lav because I have a narrow foot but both nice.

The Lav takes a few matches to get used to due to the heal to toe drop. After that it's great TW gave it a 4.7 in comfort in their review. I am ready to buy my second pair.

Thanks Andy Miller!
comparing the Diadora BlueShield and the Wilson rush to the NB Lav, which one has the more cushion?
Thanks

The cushioning of the Lav is more firm than the one in the Rush Pro 3.0 (I have both shoes). It's more firm but more responsive. In the Rush Pro 3.0 it's softer, more flexible but probably less durable. I first ordered the Lav and played about 3 training 4 matchs with it but I found the toe box not enough high for my forefoot (specifically for my big toes), that's why I switched to the Rush Pro 3.0 which has a higher toe box (the top of the shoe and toe guard is higher) and it's better with my own thicker orthopedic insoles.

Otherwise I preferred the Lav (except comfort), the amount and responsiveness of the cushioning, the support, the traction also cause it was less sticky and I like sliding a bit sometimes on hard court and I can't do it with the Rush Pro 3.0, it's too sticky. But the Lav is not slippery, you can control when you slide it's just perfect. I was just a bit bothered by the heel to toe drop which is a bit too much for me (12mm versus 9mm for the Rush Pro 3.0), so the heel is a bit bulky. I loved them for singles but hated them for doubles cause this bulky heel bothered me in my moves at the net (the Lav is also heavier than the Rush Pro 3.0). Hope it will help ;-)

Thank you PierrMBK. Yes it helped!!! I'm trying to choose the most comfortable shoes out there so I'm narrowing it down based on your feedback. Softer for me is definitely important at this point.

Do the Wilson rush 3.0 fit true to size? do you know if they are better in cushioning than the 2.5?

Sorry for highjacking the thread guys!

Thanks

Yes the rush 3.0 is very soft. I thought it was better then the 2.5. The lav had a more low to the ground feeling and the heal drop is something you forget about after a couple of times. I would say get the Rush 3.0 if you want that cushy feeling. The Diadora was also very cushy just to wide for me

Yes the Rush Pro 3.0 is true to size. But I heard in the video test of the shoes that one of the TW playtester chose 1/2 size down to fit more snug and avoid some toe jamming issues. Cause despite of the amazing comfort of the shoes you may have some minor toe jam issues.
After 3 months the support isn't exactly the same cause there is lot of mesh on the upper. So it stretches a bit. I had some toe jamming issues but it's ok, now I use thicker socks and tight my laces more.
I keep using this shoe cause the comfort is just outstanding. Right out of the box it's perfect. I've just ordered the clay version of the shoes in addition to my all court version to play on clay in summer and to play Padel outdoor also. The support looks better in the forefoot in the clay version as the upper is a bit different, less mesh (to avoid clay to come into the shoes).

I also used my Rush Pro 3.0 to play basketball outdoor one time and it was perfect, I felt good. In the gym also it's nice. Nice shoes but with my use I think the durability won't last unfortunately. Too bad if you compare it to the Gel Res 7 for example.

Otherwise I didn't have the Rush Pro 2.5 so I can't compare but I saw tests last year and the 2.5 looked more bulky and heavy. Apparently they improved the shoes a lot this year with the 3.0.

WHY does a shoe company with a great shoe make the idiotic mistake of stopping that particular shoe? If it sells and so many people enjoy it what business sense does it make to discontinue it? I even wrote Lotto several emails asking them to please bring the Raptor Ultra IV Speed shoes back out for us to buy. Nothing back from them.

I agree sales of the new raptors must suck. The Evo Raptor was also terrible. I will just spend my money elsewhere their loss. I love the Lav so I am very happy.

i wondered about that too. curious to know what's the reason but don't think we'll ever find out.
looks like they discontinued the stratosphere line as well?
i'm content that at least Diadora is putting out quality shoes and with 6 month outsold warranty, which i have noticed fewer and fewer shoes and brands offer!

By the sounds of the Lav reviews the toe box may be too cramped. I was going to get a pair but reading the reviews I will not be doing so. It may have saved me from getting the black toenail syndrome. I have been using the Adidas Boost ( 2017 version) with good success. I do miss the Lotto Raptor IV's.

I had to stop wearing them as they irritated my patella tendon in my left knee. After a few weeks with my Vapor 9.5 the pain finally went away.

Any other shows that cause the same problem?

So far it doesn’t sound that this shoe can replace Raptor :(

i think Diadora is going to be my favorite brand instead of Lotto.

Yep, I second that. I used to be a huge Lotto fan, but none of their latest products (starting with the Stratospheres) have agreed with me. All my shoes are now from Diadora (Speed Stars/Blushields/Blushield Fly) and I have been very satisfied.
