Lotto Raptor 2021

Lotto sz 11 fits me perfect (just like the Barricades or Asics Solution Speed FF2, and most of other shoes).
SCB fit me in size 10.5
Maybe I’ll just order the Raptor Hyperpulse in size 12 to match my Barricade size per your experience and in size 11.5 to match my SCB size per The Big Kahuna’s experience. One of them will hopefully be the perfect fit for me, and then I’ll return the one that doesn’t fit.

The only diff between clay/hard court versions is the thickness of the sole. And that’s .5mm extra for clay. On the flip side, they will last longer on hard courts.
I have both and correct, the clay sole is 0.5mm “deeper” however, the HC thread is “thicker” and I expect them to last longer. The Clay is deeper (by 0.5mm) to grab better on clay.

please see here. Used ones are Clay (approximately 10 hours of moderate to heavy hitting ALL on HC!)

First play, about 3h doubles and singles. No problem at all with breaking in, shoes feel solid and flexible enough in the forefoot area. Heel lock is excellent, with additional support around the ankle joint. No foot slippage forward or jammed toes (like I experience with the Ubersonics) or lateral forefoot pressure. With my usual thin socks, the shoes fit tight with enough room to further tighten the laces. I'm sure with more play time, the fit will become more relaxed, but there's plenty of cushioning and adjustment possible with the thick tongue.
Also not present, the occasional squeaking when running around as in Ubersonics.
And to finish the Ubersonic "bashing", I've played with them more then 30h and still can't say they feel comfortable: on the right foot I'm getting jammed toes after 2h of play, on the left foot, lateral pain in the forefoot area. Definitely not a good fit and too narrow for me.
As said before, I am and was, a long time user of Adidas, mostly Barricades. After they discontinued the model in 2018, I've went with the Solecourt Match model which was okay, but not as good as the Barricades. And after I've ran those out, got the Ubersonicss.4.
I would say these Raptors, are pretty close, if not equal, to the old Barricades.

Does the clay sole on a hard court give off any kind of squeak and or a good slide-to-stop ratio? I ask because I had the hard court versions of these awhile back and perhaps I'm strange but it bothered me the soles were absolutely silent - realized I like that little bit of feedback in sound, as well as a little more slickness to make hard stops a little less abrupt. Was always curious if the clay sole would fare any different on a HC.

They are very quiet now that you mention

My Lotto Raptors arrived today. The size 11.5 US is too narrow and too short for me. If I decide to keep these shoes, I’ll go with the size 12 US. So for me, the Lotto Raptor sizing matched my Adidas Barricade sizing. With the wider Adidas Sole Court Boost, I can drop down a half a size to 11.5 US for the perfect width and length.

The super thick plush Ortholite insole included with the Raptor is silly comfortable. I usually wear blue Superfeet in all my tennis and running shoes. But with these thick Ortholite insoles, I’ll be tempted to play in the stock insoles.

Hi there,
sorry to ask my friend... I want to buy the raptors but based on my lotto mirage experienced I should order size 11, because I ordered my true US 10.5 on the mirages and they were tight (narrow) and a tad short (I wear them but is not my ideal fit). I'm lost here because I've heard comments that these raptos are very true to size and have a wider toe box so I don't want them to be big on me but neither small as a prefer some room at the front. I play with medium thick socks (nike multiplayer and some thorlos that's why my size is 10.5 because I'm a true 10 normally in all my running sneakers). I would really appreciate your thoughts on this.

Thanks

I have never tried the Lotto Mirage shoes so I can't make a direct comparison there for you. I don't find the Lotto Raptors as wide as the Adidas Solecourt Boost. But the Raptors do have a decent toe box with enough room that my toes aren't hitting the edges of the shoe. I'd say that the Raptor size 12 closely matches the Nike Vapor 9 size 12 sizing. I definitely try to avoid narrow tennis shoes that rub my toes. When I first started playing tennis regularly in the late 1990's, I started off with the Prince NFS (Natural Foot Shape) shoes which were actually shaped like my foot (not pointed at the toes). Then I went to the Adidas Barricade 2 in size 12 for many years. Then the Barricade 6, 8, 2015, and 2016 all in size 12. And the Nike Vapor 9 in size 12. Then the Adidas Ubersonic 2 in size 12.5 which was a more narrow shoe so I needed the extra half-size to help with the width. Then the Adidas Solecourt Boost in size 11.5. In dress shoes and casual brown shoes, I normally wear 11.5. In Adidas Ultraboost running shoes, I wear 12.5. In Brooks Transcend 5 running shoes I wear 12.5. And for me, the Lotto Raptors work in size 12. I wore Nike Elite Basketball Crew socks when I tried out the Raptors on Saturday for tennis and today for padel. I wore them on a 5 mile walk on Sunday to try and break them in more and take some grab out of the clay court treads. On Saturday for tennis, I used the stock Ortholite insoles, but they were too springy and didn't provide the support I needed. So today for padel, I took out the stock insoles and used blue Superfeet insoles. The Superfeet insoles made even more room in the shoe because they are thinner than the stock Ortholite insoles.

The Raptor clay court outsoles are very sticky and grabbed the clay not in a good way (indoor red clay, fairly moist) and the padel artificial turf. I think these outsoles would be great for providing traction on a dry slippery clay court, but otherwise right now that are gripping too much for me!

Thank you for your time and the lengthy explanation. I went ahead and ordered the 10.5, hope they fit well for me. I’m a 10 in the SCB; also It’s good to know about the stock insoles so in case I need some additional room I may remove them and use a custom one I have.

Have a great day!

choosed the 47 size in this one.
This was too big right?
Lotto's EU sizing here is strange and large. Whereas an EU44 is a US10 in most shoes, in Lottos the 43 = 10, 43.5 = 10.5, and so on. So US sizing is accurate but EU sizing is large. I had to size down from my usual 44 (10) to 43 (9.5) in the Solecourt (there is no 43.5 in Adidas), while in these Lottos a 43 or 43.5 (for width help) is fine, but length wise my ideal would be a 43. Long story short: you may find these long.

However the shoe hugs the foot well so you can get away with a little more room.
are both the SoleCourt and raptors the same lengthwise when in the same US size? It sounds like you are saying the raptors run a bit long but the solecourts run even longer In the same us size?

I have both in my size US 10.5: solecourt are a tiny longer and more wide in the forefoot, raptors are almost the same lengthwise but less room in the toebox (they’re not narrow at all). Raptors feel very comfortable and well padded. I like the fit of the raptors more, i stopped wearing the SCB because the arch pinches like it’s in the wrong place for my feet.
I wear the raptor with sf orange and they fit nice.

I don't have them side by side but I was a 9.5 in the SCB and a 10 in the Lottos in US sizing.

Hey folks, can confirm that sizing is more true-to-size than for the Mirage 100s. I was 9 (US) in Mirage and toe box was still a bit tight but fine. Raptor at 8.5 is perfect. Still glove-like but with a wider toe fit.

So the fabric on the upper is SOFT but DOESN'T STRETCH right?

About to blind order internationally these (so I can't return). I worn 12 in AG-LT21, Cage 4, FF1, Vapor NXT, Vapor X knit, Blushield Fly 3, Ultrashot 2, and Eclipsion 2. 11.5 in the GR8 2E, MC1296v2 2E, and SFX3.

It seems to me that the stretchiness of the material determines the size I wear. Most people don't wear the same sizes for the Cage 4 and the Vapor X Knit but I did: the hard outer of the Cage 4 held my feet in place, while the Vapor X knit was stretchier so even though it ran narrow I didn't have to size up. BluShield 5 was a too big in 12. And lastly the MC1296v2 2E and SFX3 had uppers that stretched so i went down half.

Size 12 in your usual shoe size should work nice for you on the Raptors, i too ordered internationally and ordered my 10.5 and it fits right on the spot. Mirages 100 feel narrow and short in my size 10.5 I couldn't even wear my thorlos or insoles because of it. They are now in my closet within a few weeks of wear.
I like you, did a lot of research before purchasing the Raptors because of the return aspect, even reached out to TW and the advise me to order my size 10.5. Also some of the guys here told me the same; Glad i did because I was about to order a size 11 because of my experience with the Mirages.

ohh and the upper doesn’t stretch that much because is not a thin material like the vapor nxt for example (i have those), its a bit firm but cushion upper. They give a nice small additional room and get even more comfortable after 2 or 3 sessions.

hope this can give you an Idea on what size to order. What I can say is that they are a nice quality and comfortable pair of tennis shoes and I’m glad I bought them.

If I altered size it would be downwards to 11.5 not upwards to 12.5 though. But if you say the material is thin but not stretchy, I will be more inclined to stay in 12. If it is anything like the Blushield 5 though, it would be too big in 12. Regardless though, much thanks for the input. I will remember you when I win the U.S. Open with these!

Hahahaha ok, I said “is not a thin material” … its pretty dense actually. Taking everything you said before i would go for a 12. BS5 are wider and bigger, more like the Solecourt, Raptors are more hugging and snug fit.

like the gold. I'm in for a pair if 11.5US since that's what I wear in everything save all leather uppers (down a half).

and much love to the basic herringbone sole pattern in the HC shoe. reminds me of my NB996v3 bottoms but better.

Anyone else find there's this odd "forward rocking" tendency with the way the sole is shaped? Hard to describe it!

Just ordered a pair in Saffron/Blue. Those are my favorite colors and my ASICS Gel Resolutions are getting worn to the point of needing replacement. I have grown impatient with the supply issues and colorway options on the ASICS so I was super excited to see the raptors were back. I loved the pair of Raptor IVs I had back in the day — great shoe and a great alternative to the Gel Resolution (which I also love).

Long time gel resolution user as well. All of my resolutions have been 8.5. I originally ordered the raptors in that size but have to return them to get a 9. So I would recommend a half size up for sure. All feet are different but I can recommend that with confidence.

I’m not sure who has made the move to the raptor at this point but I suspect many of the lotto players will given that it seems to be their top of the line performance shoe. Historically it was David Ferrer that wore lotto and was of course known for his exceptionally efficient footwork.

Good call.

I ordered half size up and they fit well. Toe area is a little snug but that’s probably because the insole is so thick.

How long was the breaking for you?

Not long. I haven’t worn mine for long. Felt fine first time out for light hitting. Felt even better second day out. I may wear them for my match tonight -perfectly confident in them being comfortable and match ready after just a couple wears

This version of the raptor is not as much of a tank as the last set of raptor IVs I had. These Are lighter and much cooler than that shoe. If I had to guess I’d say they will break in quickly and be less durable than the Raptor IVs .

give us your feedback after your test drives

I have 3 hours on this pair. Honeymoon perhaps, but these are the real deal. Feet felt great the entire time while playing and more importantly, the rest of the day and next day felt fine.

Get yourself a pair and do size up .5.

This shoe is appreciated by everyone ... Unfortunately Lotto at this moment does not have a top tennis player who enhances its value even more and makes it more visible to users

In the mid-90s even in terms of tennis clothing they were on a par with Nike (Adidas was a bit 'in decline); first level testimonial and a memorable design!

of the same size?

Resolutions in standard width? Or the wide versions?

To me, the toebox felt larger in the Resolutions. Standard. I wear an 11 in Resolutions, 11.5 in Speeds because of the narrow fit. I have an 11.5 in Lotto. Feel great. Toebox was snug at first, broke in after a few hours. It could be because of the thick insole which is awesome btw.

For me the raptors toebox is wider than the R8 in standard width of the same size (fresh out of the box)

So you telling me that the raptors felt narrower despite SIZING UP is simply a bit surprising.

I kind of regret not going down to 11.5 from 12 for my raptors, while going down 11.5 in the R8 standard would be unfathomably uncomfortable

Just really surprised at your initial impressions. Like really really surprised LOL
