Lower back spasm

Anyone have any tips on recovering from a lower back spasm quicker? It’s been 2 weeks already and im still in a lot of pain. I’ve had 2 deep tissue massage sessions and taking ibuprofen. It’s getting better but at a very slow rate. It was the darndest thing, just as i was bent over trying to teach my son to pedal his tricycle and suddenly felt the sharp pain. If anyone’s had success with this and could share i’d greatly appreciate it.

A sudden sharp pain while bent over can sometimes be a herniated lumbar disc, so you may want to have it evaluated unless it improves dramatically. As my doctor artfully said to me 25 years ago when I leaned forward and herniated a disc, "have you had any incontinence or impotence yet?"

You really need to go see a doctor.

Sleep a lot tonight, then take a long nap tomorrow, then sleep a lot tomorrow night. If you don't feel significantly better or all better after that, go to a doctor. Take a muscle relaxer pill right now.

There are two competing theories on the cause of low back muscle pain. One is that it is caused by too strong of back muscles that need to be stretched. The other is that the core abdominal muscles are weak and need to be strengthened. I have had better luck with the latter strategy.

Could be a disk herniation. Mine got to the point where I couldn't bend at the waist to drink from a drinking fountain; I had to do a deep knee bend and keep my upper body straight. Fortunately, I was able to rehab and didn't need surgery.

In my region I use wintagen cream to massage my foot & back for feet / back pain removal

It is very effective

I have no idea if it is available in other region or not

Try olive oil also for massage

Could also be the hammies are tight [less shock absorption].

Sometimes it takes me a couple of minutes to be able to relax my muscles in order to straighten my back to lie on the floor.

I do have a displaced disc, basketball injury, but the situation got worse this week after:
1. Changing the way I do pushups
2. Forgeting to use my chest expander

Physical therapy with a trained professional will teach you the stretching drills you need to do for a while to strengthen your abdominal and back muscles. As long as your muscles in both places are strong and flexible, you can live and play through any disk issues without pain or spasms.
