Lower Powered Control Multis?

I have always loved NRG2 in a hybrid with a copoly, but in my current racquet, NRG is just too lively and powerful. What are some good low powered, soft multi's that would work well in a hybrid with a copoly?

Some I have thought of are:

-Iso Speed Control
-Iso Speed Classic
-Head FXP
-Head RIP Control
-Wilson NXT Control (currently trying)
-Mantis Comfort Syn (really a multi)
-Maxim Touch

I am looking for something with soft feel, good pocketing and nice touch for drop shots and volleys, with a low power level so I can string lower.

No way is Maxim Touch low powered.

I agree about Maxim Touch. I was not a fan of Isospeed Control. Nothing stood out for me. I really like the Head FXP (the control version) and of course Mantis Comfort is the softest of them all but your poly may tear it to shreds.

Do u think Head FXP is as low powered as Mantis? As RIP Control?

Mantis Comfort.....if they could improve the durability, they would really have something there. I hope it lasts better with a round smooth co-poly.
I plan on trying some this week.

sorry nxt control

Really? I didn't find NXT Control "mushy" at all. Soft, but a little crisp IMO.
Also not extremely low powered, but definitely lower than something like NRG2. Seems like we had 2 different experiences. Did u string it very low? I did 57/53.

Ah I apologize, I used nxt control in a full bed rather than with a copoly. I should have read your full post. I strung nxt control in a full bed at 58.

I found babolat addiction not to be too powerful.

No, I actually am trying it in a full bed right now. Might also be good as a main w/ a copoly cross?

Bab addiction is ok. Nothing special. Avg run of the mill multi. Power level was medium. Definitely better choices for "control".

What are the differences? I'm considering exchanging my set of NXT for NXT Control.

NXT is your regular multi. Powerful, comfortable and soft.

NXT Tour is an "internal hybrid" of multi and poly in one string and it plays just like it, maybe leaning a little more towards multi. It's soft, super easy to string and lower powered with nice feel and touch. I have it as a full bed, but it might be interesting also in a hybrid. Only drawback is the price ($16), but I think it's worth it. It's similar to Rip Control but with a lot more feel.

An interesting combo might be NXTC in the mains w/ Mantis Comfort Syn in the crosses. Would lessen the cost per stringjob too and the NXTC is soft round and smooth, so it might not eat into the Mantis at all?

I find the difference between the NXT Control and RIP Control to be minimal when used as a cross with poly. The RIP is a bit more dead feeling, the nxtc a touch more lively. But like I said in the other thread, the price diff has RIP win out for me.

Does it get the same spin as RIP? If it is smooth, MCS might mix well with it. I liked Tecnifibre DuraMix which was a poly/multi blend. You may want to try that one out sometime.

I did want to try Dura Mix or the newer X-Code. They are supposed to be similar types of strings to NXTC.

I dont remember what kind of spin I got with RIP, but NXT getsdecent spin. Not as much as a poly, but more than a multi.

I actually quite enjoyed RIP control but as a full bed - pretty low powered and nice feel.. Quite soft too

You guys should do a 20% prestretch (or hand pre-stretch) of whatever multi you're thinking of, if you want lower power. It will take out some of the liveliness as well as help with tension maintenance.

Vanquish has been on the market for awhile now. I'll be trying Vanquish out in a few weeks.

Vanquish is also supposed to be a low power/control multi.
It's nice to have some options that feel soft, if you have a
powerful racquet that can't handle something like NRG or XOne.

I have a low powered racket but big loopy strokes. So low powered everything is usually best for me.

Jack, have you tried Yonex 850 Pro? Super-nice multi...

I have this one in the house and will hit with it in about a month.
