Luxilon 4G vs 4G soft?

Considering trying one of these as a cross for gut mains.
How different does soft play compared to regular?
I figure you'd lose something in exchange for the "softer" feel.

Thanks.

Soft plays a little less powerful than regular at same tension etc. If you want more power, you can decrease the tension in the NG main. In FB, soft is more muted and definitely less powerful than regular. Tension maintenance is about the same. Both are very stiff strings in spite of one being called Soft.

I agree SOFT is still a crisp string. It has a slick candy coated, poppy feel and decent pocketing. I think it would be great for a cross. I've only played them in full beds though.

I just threaded Soft as a cross with 1.30 VS Touch. Really, really good. can’t tell any control difference from regular 4g crosses (strung at the same tension, 54#). pretty comfortable to play. I’ve never tried Soft in a full bed but have used regular 4g, not sure which has more inherit power...hard to tell any “power” difference between the two in a hybrid as the poly is there to tame power/add control.

I have used both as cross for gut mains. I would say very similiar except I do feel the 4G soft is a little softer. I could not play with the regular 4G my wrist and elbow felt it, no issues with the soft though.
