Luxilon BB Alu Touch Hybrid

Lleyton Hewitt

Professional
Has anyone tried this....it looks good to me. Luxilon BB Alu Power 16L + Monotec Supersense 16L. It is worth around £15. Since i cant get half Luxilon sets to go with the VS gut strings i want. I might just get this hybrid as the Supersense is a comfort string and control too.

Out of 10 would u rate what it would provide for

Control
Power
Spin
Comfort
Durability

Also do i still need to bring the tension down by 10%?

Or shall i not bother with this string and go for full BB ALU Power string job.

hmmm i am just not sure what string to go with at the moment.......its out of Luxilon ALU Touch hybrid, BB ALU Power, Pro Hurricane or Pro Hurricane Tour/Duralast.

Everyone do ratings on the categorys above

How many strings are you trying out? Supersence isn't confortable it's a poly, end of story. Heck I could go to 65 LBS with gut in the crosses b4 my arm started to hurt. Use Forten Sweet in the crosses, if you dont want to buy a full set of gut.

i have used 2 of the luxilon hybrid combos with Supersense 16L. one was with ace 18g mains, one with timo 18g m

With this hybrid the string bed felt about 25% softer.

I really like the touch hybrids

Give it a try as i can promise it wont be bad

i have this strung on my prostaff 6.0 85 and it's amazing. I'm thinking of going all Supersense next time and see what happens. it might actually be a little TOO comfortable. ;)

how is its performance? and since it has a soft string in the hybrid (supersense) shall i still reduce the tension for luxilon ALU POWER 10% or maybe just 5 %.....how about 57 mains 55 crosses, 56/54 or 55/53.....would the alu power really hurt in a hybrid at 57 lbs?

well, for me, performance-wise, i'm still learning to play with it. I have mine strung at 58 because I was told you lose up to 5 lbs of tension after striking the ball a few times. I'm not able to generate as much spin with these as I can with the 5-star Luxilon strung at 52 lbs on my Babolat Pure Control. Mind you, the 5-star has a pentagonal shape and therefore lends itself more to spin generation.

My praise for the Alu Touch, however, stems from how comfortable it feels. It's truly amazing. I'm always excited to pick it up and play with it. I'm not sure if it's due to the Alu Power or Supersense, but my money is on the Supersense which is why I'm considering doing a full job with it next time.

ALU-Touch is good but not really better than a full ALU-Power job, IMO. The string bed def feels softer but also makes somewhat weird noises. The Supersense is in the crosses and besides the feel/sound, the string job feels pretty similar. Because of that, I won't be hybriding again with Supersense which is more expensive. I might just try using a cheap string like Klip Kicker as the cross...

As I detailed on another thread, the United States Stringers Association rates Supersense as stiffer than Alu Power (250 and 242, respectively), which leads me to believe that Supersense's job, in that hybrid, is that of taming Alu Power's "springyness". Just my 2 cents.
