It shouldn't take long before someone who is well known in this forum enters this discussion and transform this thread into a 100 posts one, to prove that Luxilon is crap, and that nobody should use it, because it is stiff, provides a small sweetspot, changes the balance of your racquet because it is damn too heavy, has no feel, and blah blah blah, to prove that he is right, he will even use for argument the fact that a tennis pro star who lost a match not so long after switching to luxilon, only lost due to the switch.

Shouldn't VS Team be string of the year with no further discussion? Gut is still considered to be the holy grail of tennis, either in a hybrid or as a full string job.

It might be powerful, but surely it's a better string than any given poly?

I do, however, agree, that it is (technologically speaken) one of the best string out there, but to rank it as the number one string? Nah..

I have never played with any gut string but besides that I wouldn't know any string better than Alu Power considering it's feel, control and power.
And why is gut so special?
Because it's old and a very primitive/classical material???
What if a Poly string had been used from the beginning of tennis, than everyone would have said.

'It might not be powerful, but surely it's a better string than any given gut????!!'

I don't know if it actually is like that, but is sure seems that way to me.
Just like people wanting to have a tennis racquets which are as close as possible to a wooden one.
:? :? :?

If you can name any better string, tell me and I will give it a try!
But I hope it is not going to spoile my confidence in my Big Banger Alu Power string because right now it's the perfect string for me :D

Try some VS Team. But if Alu power is "the perfect string for you" then by definition, there wont be a better string out there (for you).

Just that for me, feel and control arent 2 words that come to mind when I think of Alu.

Strings Ive played with way more feel and control (with thankfully less power): Pro Hurricane, Gosen JC, Technifibre NRG2 and Competition, Wilson NXT Tour, there are many other strings i'd prefer to use.

Also how can you have a representative year end survey or poll, with only 36 votes?

Unfortunately I can't get this NRG2 string in Holland.
Maybe you could send me a set and I'll give you my opinion about this string :D

I'll be playing with BB for the first time on thusday (on a HPS 6.1), strung at a pretty low tension. I'll share my thoughts.

gut is too damn expensive to use. ive played it before, and yeah its nice. i just dont feel like going broke becasue of it. luxilon doenst last too long before it starts to play like a cracked 2 by 4. its gets really stiff and you lose control. even if you dont hit like agassi, the string wont las tthat long playing well. it wont snap, it will just suck
