Luxilon Bronze Prototype Review

I am really enjoying the Luxilon Bronze. With a week at the beach and plenty of time to hit, I'm finding this string very enjoyable strung up 48# in my Hammer-o-Thor ("HoT", for short) HEAD set up. The clay here is nice and soft (perfect for my recovering meniscus!) and pretty damp, so I'm guessing it's going to snap any day now. I'll post a full review later this week when it does!! Are you aware if Luxilon is releasing it for sure? Also, what is your opinion on the string life of Feel? I am curious if it lasts longer than PTP 120 from Yonex. RSI has numbers saying that the Feel loses a little less but I never know with numbers.

is it more power or less power than alu power feel ? and what about spin potential?

All the best to your meniscus... mine has recovered well (well at least 98% well which is more than enough).

Yes it's being release but I don't have release details yet ... will post when I can.

String feel - probably better than any poly i've ever played with. I can't say too much yet about longevity as I've been trying a lot of different racquets and string combinations so haven't had it in any racquet too long. For sure better longevity than Alu Power Feel.

Move power than Alu Power Feel for sure. Spin potential for me was similar - at least not a huge discernible difference but I don't hit with huge spin so I'm probably not the best judge in that department.

Thanks. I heard 2016, so I guess that's what I'll assume. What string does it play similar to?

How long does ALU Power Feel last, before it dies and becomes a dead string job? Looking to make a direct comparison with Poly Tour Pro 1.20 in the near week.

Tried it today ... Gut in mains at 56# and Lux Bronze in crosses at 53#.
Man what a nice setup. So much fantastic ball pocketing, feel and comfort. The sweetspot also felt huge. I only played doubles so not too many long baseline rallies - will get a better idea of overall performance when I play more.
 
I've been playing the Bronze prototype all week long (vacation-yeah baby!) on lush, very nicely maintained clay courts and really come to enjoy the string. In short, it's a forgiving, "plush" feeling poly which in a 16G plays 'thinner' (ie, more lively and with greater spin production) than I recall from previous Luxilon offerings. The string seems to 'pocket' the ball more than most polys and offers good touch on drops, lobs, and volleys. So far I've logged about 8 hours on a single string job with some mild notching but no breakage (strung @ 48# in my customized YT IG Rad Pro). Overall, I would consider a change to this string and really wonder how a true 18 guage version might play! :) BHBH
 
Have also been playing with seeding sets of the upcoming Luxilon Bronze. Playing incredibly well.

Previously played with Champions Choice sets of guy/ALU Power rough.
Strung at 56 main/cross.

First set had 17 hours on them and then lost tension and notched.
Current set has 10+ hours on them and has not lost tension.

New Full sets of Lux Bronze feels better....Power, Control, good feel no arm strain. Am a better player with them.

Anyone know the price point? Must be lower cost than Champions Choice.
 
I've been using it for 3 months now. Best strings I've ever used. Heard it coming out in early Sept.

Has great feel and pocketing with power. easy on the elbow. Been stringing at 56 for both but might need to go up to 58.

Have you played with Head Hawk or Head Hawk Touch and can provide a comparison between the two strings? If not, how well does Element maintain tension and what is the closest string to it that you have played with?
 
My experience is that Element provides a more comfortable feel than Hawk or Hawk Touch.

I liked it because it has the classic Luxilon feel and spin but with the feeling that the ball really pockets in the string bed.

My previous strings were Champions Choice which were great but more expensive. Will now go with a Luxilon cross and mains
with better performance. Still figuring out on tension maintenance...went 15-20 hours on one string job and then restrung without breaking.
 
Thanks to TW, I was able to participate in the Luxilon Playtest and have posted my initial review in the forum and I thought I shared my opinion on the string.

This string is not your old Luilon Alu Power or 4G string. Luxilon made this string for people who wanted more power than Alu Power or 4G and provide a softer feel and gentler on the arm. It definitely doesn't feel still.

I had it strung in my 2015 Blade 98 18x20 at 50lbs and it felt really good for the hour hitting session I had. This string has great dwell time and I really enjoy hitting slices with this racquet. It's not a spin monster but if you use the right technique, it's more than adequate on spin. I will have to up the tension a bit as it does have a trampoline like effect even on my dense 18x20 racquet.

I am liking the string and will update when I get a chance to hit a bit more with it to find out if this string has good tension maintenance.
 
Excited for the string because I have always found Luxilon to be missing a softer and more arm friendly string. Yes they have Lux Feel but I prefer a string that has slightly more plushness as opposed to the very very crisp ALU feel.
