Luxilon = less elbow pain for me?

I am currently playing with the Head LM Prestige Mid (previous rackets = PS Tour 90 and Fishcer M Speed 98). I have tested a number of strings in recent months and I have come to a strange conclusion which is that I have no elbow pain with luxilon but have some moderate pain with various multis (Wilson Sensation, Gamma Livewire XP to name a few).

I find this strange as many people here report that they have experienced elbow pain with luxilon and other polys. I find that when using multis (not all, but some) I have mild elbow pain as since the string is so soft the racket vibrates more and I can feel it in my elbow. Yet, with Lux (alu power rough 16L) my shots just feel so crisp and stiff (but in a nice way) and no vibration whatsoever.

Anyone have similar experiences, or could provide an explanation for my strange findings?

i agree, i used to use nxt 16 on my n-tour 90, and i had horrible arm and shoulder pain. I have been suprisingly painless since i switched to luxilon.

Well, much of this misconception comes from the fact that people string their Lux too high. At around 55 or so, it's very nice but any higher leads to arm problems.

Personally, I don't see how a multi can be worse than lux for your arm though. I use Wilson Sensation 16 at 62 and I have no problems. But Lux doesn't give me issues either. I just can't see how lux would be better than a multi for your arm. Better than a solid-core perhaps but not a multi.

I used Luxilon for a while and wanted to try a few more things... I tried two synthetic guts at 57 lbs in my Pure Storm.

The first day out with 17 gauge Prince Synthetic gut I was absolutely amazed at how stiff it was. Crisp doesn't even begin to describe it. It was just stiff, like hitting a Pure Drive off-center. It quickly wore down...and down...and down, until it was soft and worn out...

I went back to Luxilon and now only use ALU power strung at 54 lbs, which is sitll a little high, but it feels fine to me. Not stiff the first day and the feel has no changed over the past few weeks.

I think the stiffness issue with Luxilon is described the wrong way. People are stringing it too high on rackets that are too stiff. It obviously doesn't have the "feel" of a synthetic gut on soft shots, but when you hit all out it's un-matched if you ask me. The feel is there on the hard ones.

There are some odd string vibrations that don't come with a synthetic or a multi that annoy me, it's hard for me to get the damped feel I like. Anyone notice that?

Bottle Rocket - I know exactly where you are coming from when you say that Luxilon is simply unparalled when you really go for your massive shots.

You guys are probably right in saying that stringing above 54-55lbs is what is causing people problems. Since I normally string multis at 60-62lbs I took the 10% less advice with luxilon, and it has worked out great for me.
