Luxilon TI-MO and Big Banger Ace?

Can someone please give me some feedback on Luxilon Big Banger Ace 18g or Luxilon TI-MO 18g strings?

FYI: I currently use Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power 16L string (Kirschbaum Super Smash Honey 17g before the Luxilon) in my POG mid....looking at the 18g Luxilons (or high durability strings) in case I decide to go with a Wilson ROK or a Head LM Prestige MP (both of which I'll be trying out within the next two weeks) and need to go to a thinner gauge to try and get more spin.

I have played with both of the Lux strings and would actually stay with the ALU. That is what I will be using in my Prestige. Howver, if the choice is between Ace and TI-MO I would choose the ACE due to better playing chariteristics. THe ACE does not last as long as the ALU and I do not see that much of a spin differnece. Are you concerned because of the dense string pattern. I have never really seen a true drop off for spin with this pattern versus a more open pattern. Mabe just me.

TBJ,

Yes, the dense string pattern of the LM Prestige MP (or ROK) is a concern of mine. I'm currently using a POG mid with a 14 x 18 string pattern. My game centers around my abundance of topspin and slice. I'm just concerned that in going from a 14 x 18 string pattern to a 18 x 20 string pattern, I'm going to lose quite a bit of my top and slice that I rely on.

ben i've been tryin to tell you man, you dont need a durable 18 guage string, all 18 guage is durable in the ROK!!!!!! in the prestige with a bigger headsize....it might be differnt.....i shreded through TNT 18 in my old Rebels in 5 hours and the same stuff broke on a sheared grommet at 20+ hours in my ROK....it'll allllllll last man, go NRG 18 if you want

BB, acein.... is right. You won't pick up on it via a demo, since you won't put too much mileage on any given racquet & strings in a week, but your POG mid is a shredder and these 18-main, small-headed racquets don't slash up your string the same way. If you bought a Prestige mid or a ROK, you MUST string with gut or a soft multi (or a thin, crisp one like LF Pro Stock 17 or XRC Phenom 18) -- it would be a waste, almost a crime, to put a thicker poly in one of these frames. Soft, thin string @ 50-53 lbs.

Hey Benjie. Let me tell you one thing: there is nothing like TiMo in the control dept. The problem is that its playable life is really short. For me it lasts no more that 10 hours of hard play. I mean, the strings do not break, but the atitude changes completely. It also happens tith the ACE.

I had an advice from Rabbit, and I am trying now the Kirsch Competition, and till now I am very satisfied with it. It plays pretty much like TiMo, and I heard that its playable life is MUCH longer. I also have a POG Mid and stung it at 58. This setup plays real fine, but you have to provide the power.

Hope it helps.

I am not sure it would be a waste or a crime to put poly in the LM Prestige. There are several pros that do it already. Gustavo Kuerten uses Alu Power and I know he was using the LM prestige. I know they do not use the actual stick much of the time. If you check the pros using Head they seem to be using either gut or poly (Lux or supersmash). It all depends on what you are looking for in feel, power and control. Power is not my concern, I am looking for maximum control of my power (i.e. flex racquet and control strings).
