Lynx Tour/Lynx Touch Hybrid set up?

After listening to Troy and Michelle talk about Poly/Poly hybrids on the podcast, I decided to try a combo of Lynx Tour (my current fave string) in the mains, and the new Lynx Touch (not a fan at first in a full set up) in the crosses. I thought about trying this as I have found that I prefer a stiffer stringbed, but a full poly set up might be a bit too firm for me in my mid 40's, but a poly/multi set up is a little too spongy. I was hoping that using a softer poly like Lynx Touch - which was too spongy in a full bed for me - in the crosses might be a good compromise. In my opinion this combo felt OK, but not great (at least at 50lbs). Has anyone else had any success with this set up?

Like I said, it was just OK. I've tried to find ways to like Lynx Touch, but it's just not happening.

My new set up, which I haven't gotten to really try for real yet, is Lynx Tour mains and Element in the crosses (50lbs). First impressions from just light hitting on court with a couple juniors is positive. I'll try to remember to add more thoughts once I get some more hitting on them!

I didn't try the hybrid in the title but I tried the Dominic Thiem hybrid for 2019 but with thinner gauges: Lynx Tour 17 in the mains and Head Hawk 18 in the crosses. I was liking Head Lynx Tour as a full bed a lot in my Wilson Blade V8 18x20 but I wanted to try a poly poly hybrid in my Blades as I wanted to see if there would be a major difference. I like the spin, control, and feel a lot. I strung it at 55/51 and 52/52 and preferred the 52/52 more (my normal tension for full bed).

Give it a shot. I really feel like I got the best of both worlds in a way. I liked the setup so much, I got a reel of each string.

I am also a big fan of this setup. You get the pocketing sensation of Lynx Tour plus the "pop"/Crispness of the Head Hawk. This concept could be what Head is after with the new Lynx Spin2 string that is about to come out...

I just tried this hybrid combo. LT in mains and touch in crosses. It plays perfectly fine. I had no issues in general but in the end i prefer the extra byte and crispness you get from full bed of LT. Keep in mind that even in crosses Touch gets the upper hand in terms of feel. Spin is reduced as with vibrations and you get a lot more soft sensation in contact. Feel is good but i prefer the more lively respond of LT….. it just gives me a more solid impact where hybrid was more light. But it’s good….. give it a try if you don’t like LTs comfort. To me it’s more important now to try LTour at 1.20 gauge and see if SW is decreased.

Thanks! I do like Lynx Tour but it‘s always a compromise for me tension-wise. Strung lower it feels better but at some point the launch angle gets too high. I do like a particularly low launch angle. For my strokes, I get much more predictable height and depth. And I find it easier to hit cleanly, because I don’t need to angle the racket face so much.

So, as people say that Lynx Touch has a low launch angle and I could string it a bit higher, while maintaining a less boardy feel, I think it could work for me.

So played about two hours with the Touch/Tour hybrid at 53lbs in my 18x20 TF40.
Didn‘t play badly. Relatively powerful but control was good and spin ok. The launch angle on my second serve did take some getting used to, though. And I missed a bit of spin on that shot particularly.
The combo has a nice sound and comfortable feel.
